2 Literature Review and Theoretical frame work
2.1. Introduction

In this chapter we discuses literature of various past studies which give a support to this research
Work (GSCM) practices. The GSCM practices and its concept such as internal environment
Management, Eco Design, Investment Recovery, Green Purchasing and customers cooperation.
This study will cover the challenges in supply chain management and organizational
Performance has been covered.

As we know that the supply chain management (SCM) is a very vast field different
author define SCM by their own ways. As SCM has a positive and significant role in
organizational performance in different dimensions.SCM connect different companies
it’s an activity that interconnect each other to make a specific activity, According to the
definition of supply chain management and from the past literature we can understand the
importance of SCM supply chain management practices with in the industries.
Companies organized and form their supply chain betterly to boost up their productions
produce cleaner products for their customers and also to achieve their other
organizational objectives internal or external.

2.2. Supply chain management

A supply chain management can be define as “ supply management is a network of upward and
down ward stream of organizations for the flow of information and flow of material for the
purpose to create value and satisfaction ” (Mangan et al 2016).

2.3. The importance of corporate image.

Image is always very important for organizations, whether they are public sector or a private
sector. For companies to attain their objectives it impact a good image to their stake holders.
According to Dowling he define corporate image as “corporate image associate a typical
impressions a company can generate in their stakeholders mind” (Dowling, 2004). Companies
pay more focus on corporate image to attain their objectives and successive
(Kim and Lee, 2010).

2.4. Green supply chain management practices GSCM practices

Although there are many factors of green supply chain management initiatives there are five
chosen practices will discussed in this research these are internal and external practices which
can impact positive or negative impact on organizational performance. These five practices can
be adopted by any in the organization for upward flow of information or downward flow of
information. We can discuses more about these five chosen practices in literature part

According to this theory it can evaluate the firm’s tangible and intangible assets. The tangible
assets include financial assets, physical assets which can be touched even the employees are too.
And the intangible are the company’s reputation, skills of employees, knowledge and
organization culture. (Barney, 1991; Wernerfelt 1984) According to authors the key concept of
the resource base theory is that the organizations possess assets and that can compete its
competitors to better utilization of its resources.

Free man defines stake holder theory as “Freeman. 1984 according to him stake holder is
individual or a number of peoples they can influence or response of conclusions”. By his
definition of stake holder theory in depth is more focus on that individuals and groups that effect
organizational performance. This definition in broad sense every one can see important part for
organizations that can play a vital role in organization success. The past studies reports that
manufacturing companies adopt the GSCM practices which can raise and implemented the from
their stake holders response such as their customers (Zhu et al., 2005, Lai and Wong,
2012).legislative authorities (Birkin et al., 2009, Liu et al., 2012) the suppliers (Lee, 2008, Yen
and Yen, 2012).

H1: GSCM practices (IEM, ECO, IR, CC & GP) positively and significant impact on
organizational performance.
H2: GSCM practices have significant impact on corporate image.
H3: There is a significant relationship between corporate image and firm performance.
H4: Corporate image Mediates between GSCM practices and organizational performance
The entire above hypothesis are important to evaluate green supply chain management and
corporate image in respect of Pakistan manufacturing industries. There are a number of research
articles published in the field of supply chain and firm performance, it’s a first study in Pakistan
using corporate image as a mediator between GSCM and organizational performance.
