REASON/DESCRIPTION/OPERATIONAL CONSEQUENCES
AIRBUS introduced new wingbox ribs under Modification No. 39729J3021. During the new rib
installation a discrepancy (foul condition) at Rib 2, Center Lower Rib Foot Angle and the Bottom Skin,
Upper Surface was discovered between Stringer (STGR) 8 and STGR 11. This discrepancy was
addressed by Modification No. 152155J3373 and Modification No. 152200J3372.
However 216 delivered aircraft did not have Modification No. 152155J3373 or Modification No.
152200J3372 embodied; these aircraft may be subject to Mandatory Inspection Service Bulletin No.
A320-57-1205.
This Service Bulletin is issued to remove the foul condition discrepancy at Rib 2, Center Lower Rib Foot
Angle and the Bottom Skin, Upper Surface (wing bottom panel 2). Instructions are detailed on inserting
shims between the lower Rib 2 feet and the bottom skin upper surface (wing bottom panel 2).
Accomplishment of this Service Bulletin reduces the additional stresses introduced by the foul condition
thus lengthening fatigue life and minimising the possibility of crack propagation.
Accomplishment of this Service Bulletin cancels the Inspection requirements of Service Bulletin No.
A320-57-1205.

(1) History
AIRBUS introduced new wingbox ribs under Modification No. 39729J3021. During the
new rib installation a discrepancy (foul condition) at Rib 2, Center Lower Rib Foot
Angle and the Bottom Skin, Upper Surface was discovered between Stringer (STGR) 8
and STGR 11. This discrepancy was addressed by Modification No. 152155J3373 and
Modification No. 152200J3372.
However 216 delivered aircraft did not have Modification No. 152155J3373 or
Modification No. 152200J3372 embodied; these aircraft may be subject to Mandatory
Inspection Service Bulletin No. A320-57-1205.
(2) Objective/Action
This Service Bulletin is issued to remove the foul condition discrepancy at Rib 2, Center
