Cold Cut In-service Pipeline
JOB STEPS
1. Perform required gas testing of work area prior to performing work.
2. Remove coating from area of pipe that will be cut.
3. Mark areas on the pipe where cold cuts are to be made
4. UT pipe at cold cut marks, using hand held ultrasound equipment
5. Drill a 3/8" hole in pipe to check LEL prior to making cold cut
6. Place cold cutters in ditch and on pipe
7. Line up cold cutters wheels and check for alignment/tracking
8. Cold cut pipe
9. Remove cold cutters after cut has been made
10. File sharp edges from both sides of cold cut

Weld New Pipe/Fitting to In-service Pipelines


JOB STEPS
11. Perform required gas testing of work area prior to performing work.
12. Ensure proper fit to complete welding
13. Tack weld top or bottom of pipe
14. Remove High / low from pipe fit
15. Tack weld other side of pipe
16. Remove line up clamps
17. Weld bead, hot pass, filler passes, and cap pipe
18. Grind bead in preparation for next weld pass
19. Visually inspect finished weld

 Fit Pipe for Tie-in


JOB STEPS
20. Perform required gas testing of work area prior to performing work.
21. Lower new line pipe into excavation
22. Place new pipe along side old pipe and make mark for final cut
23. Cut pipe with beveling machine and cutting torch
24. Grind / clean up weld bevels
25. File inside of bevel to remove burr
26. Place two ends of pipe in line
27. Make pipe line up and fit pipe to weld
