The minimum minutes they will need to be able to cross the bridge could be 18-19 minutes
since the oil lamp would last for 22 minutes.

Assumption:
Assuming that they have ropes since they are all from hiking expecting that they are all
equipped.
Therefore, since D is the only one who is in good shape and can cross to the other side in the
shortest amount of time, he will tie the rope end to end of the bridge while the lamp is movable
hanging there.
So that the lamp is not a hindrance upon crossing the bridge.

Elaboration 1 (with assumption)

A underwent hip surgery and needed 10 minutes to cross the bridge; if D offered assistance
because he was in good condition, their journey would take 11 minutes.
B is out of shape and needs 5 minutes to cross the bridge then together with C who had knee
difficulties who needs 2 minutes, it will take 7 minutes.

Total Time=18mins
A & D = 11mins
B & C = 7mins

Elaboration 2 (without assumption)

A had hip surgery and needed 10 minutes to cross the bridge; if D offered to help because he
was in good shape, they would need 11 minutes. B is out of shape and will need 5 minutes to
cross the bridge; with D's help, he will need 6 minutes.

If D helped C cross the bridge because she was having knee problems, the total duration would
be only 2 minutes.
If D could help A, B, and C since D is in good condition and can go the least distance. D can
help A, B, and C keep their balance and brightness.

Total Time=19mins
A=11mins
B=6mins
C=2mins
