REACTION PAPER. Write a minimum of three paragraphs.

1. In today’s situation, what do you think is the type of cancer that the Philippine
society is experiencing that makes us sufferer not to be touched?

I think the type of cancer that Philippine society is experiencing is corruption, cronyism, and
nepotism. Because they affect public life by keeping tax revenues low and weakening efforts
to combat poverty, they are important issues in the Philippines. Government officials at all
levels face numerous accusations of graft, corruption, and abuse of authority. Since these
issues are so pervasive, the Filipino people have grown to regard corruption and the theft of
a small portion of cash as conventional.

In the Philippines, corruption has long been recognized as a reality. Many politicians use the
idea of being "clean" to set themselves apart from the dishonest ones when campaigning for
office. Politicians are only one of the numerous factors contributing to corruption in the
Philippines, though. Corruption is a widespread issue in all nations, developed and
developing. It is frequently linked to the act of providing or asking for money or bribes to
win contracts or favors, for abusing governmental power, and for diverting public funds. It
is true that corruption is a cancer that spreads across society. The Philippines requires an
anti-corruption strategy that is strong but compassionate, autonomous but accessible, and
comprehensive but in-depth. Even rapid growth won't help most Filipinos avoid injustice
and poverty without such a program.

According to numerous studies on this topic, corruption is a widespread issue worldwide. It
will probably take some time to find a solution to the corruption problem in the Philippines,
and for it to be successfully implemented, institutional and cultural changes are both
necessary. On a smaller scale, nevertheless, maintaining moral integrity is one of the best
defenses against corruption's exponential growth.
