GROUP PAPER CONTENT INSTRUCTIONS

The group paper should have the following sections:

i) Executive summary (1 page).

Summary of sections ii –iv

ii) Introduction / Background (1 pages)

Provide an overview on the issue, i.e background and latest updates based on sources such
as academic journals, internet resources, books, news reports etc

iii) Discussion (10-16 pages) –Content of this sections is as follows

a. Facts and misinformation on the issue
Facts/ Evidence/ information/ views SUPPORTING the issue
Facts/ Evidence/ information/ views OPPOSING the issue
Fake news / incorrect information / biases on the issue

b. Moral Principles / Standards related to the issue

Discuss the ethical principles which are relevant to this issue using any relevant theories that
you have learnt in this course eg utilitarianism, moral rights, justice, ethics of care, virtue
ethics, environmental ethics, employee rights, advertising ethics etc

Moral /Cultural Relativism- Views of different stakeholders and countries / cultures /

communities. Are there differences in views between different stakeholders i.e Malaysia
vs other countries / Malay vs Chinese vs Indian etc / Rural vs urban stakeholders etc

c. Moral judgement by each student in the group

Every student is to write (min 1 page per group member) about his/her own views which can
be different from other group members by answering these questions-
 Do you support or object to this issue?
 Discuss how you make the moral decision on this issue i.e what are the moral standards
and factual information that support your decision on this issue.
 Is your moral judgement based on complete, up-to-date and correct information i.e not
misinformation / fake news? Is your moral judgement based on sound and defensible moral
principles?
 See Fig 1.1 in text book and related explanation on the quality of moral reasoning /
judgement
 iv) Conclusion (min 2 page)
 What is the group’s overall position on this issue considering the arguments for and
against this issue and the differing views of group members?
 What are your group’s recommendations to resolve the moral dilemma?
 Is the group’s position on this issue fair to all parties who are affected by the issue
especially the weaker stakeholders?
 How did your group resolve conflicting views, interests or moral principles of different
stakeholders’ or different group members?

v) References

5. General instructions

o The assignment should be written either in Bahasa Melayu or English language. There
should be consistency in the use of language throughout the assignment.
o The entire text must be produced using The Times New Roman, and the font size should
be 12 points.
o 15 – 20 pages (excluding references and appendices).
o The American Psychological Association (APA) citation style is recommended as it is
the most commonly used in academic writing in the social sciences.
 Please submit the soft copy of the group paper via Learning zone for plagiarism
checking. All papers must have less than 20% similarity index as provided by Turnitin.
