How to Pass the Computer Systems

Servicing NC II Assessment?

Here’s how you will pass


the Computer System
Servicing NC II Assessment:
For Oral
And Documentation
Questioning:
• You must posses adequate
knowledge the what and
how general information
about the computer.
Including the relationship
of chipsets, CPU, RAM,
motherboard, and the unit
that it comprises.
• Practice your English
writing skills because you
will be needing it. You will
be asked to write how
things work during the
examination.
• If you are looking for the
possible question during
the assessment,
For PC Assemble
and
Disassemble:
• Be mindful of the
Occupational Health and
Safety, this is something to
do with safety precautions.
This must be observed
throughout the
examination because most
assessors pay attention on
your mistakes regarding
safety.
• Make sure you are familiar
in the connection of the
Front Panel connectors in
an old or new
motherboard. Take note
some Assessor are very
strict on this part, even
though your PC is working
properly they will not
accept incorrect
connection.
• You must have a strong
knowledge about computer
peripherals and its
functions. You should be
able to identify peripherals
and their uses and
capabilities.
• You should be able to
disassemble and assemble
a computer system unit
faster than anyone
normally can. It’s an
integral skill a computer
technician should have.
For OS
Installation:
• This is the easiest part:
• Just make sure you
install the operating
system in its right disk
partition (Drive C:),
especially in dual
operating system.
• Be sure the disk or
bootable flash drive you
are using is not
corrupted (report it
immediately to the
assessor for
replacement).
• If you failed on this
part, it will consume 30
to 40 minutes of your
time. Always remember
that the assessment has
a time duration.
• Install the appropriate
drivers ONLY, Do not
install other software
included in the CD/DVD
installer (Ex. Adobe
Acrobat etc.) it will just
consume your time.
For Networking:
• Use a good crimping tool
and punch down tool.
• Create network cables
slowly but surely (but
make sure it will not take
too long).
• Make sure you memorize
the wiring arrangement of
creating straight-thru and
crossover cables (don’t also
forget the wiring
arrangement in the patch
panel).
• You must be
knowledgeable in
configuring different
wireless routers.
For Server
Setup:
• You should already
mastered the following
configuration:
•Active Directory
• DHCP & DNS
• Domain Services
• GPO
• Sharing Files
• Wireless Connection
• File/Printer Server
• Remote Desktop
For
Maintenance:
• You should also mastered
the following:
• Create and use system
restore point
• Create a system backup
image
• Install and Use anti-
virus
• Registry cleaner
• Disk defragmenter

Last but not the least be


90% calm and 10%
nervous. Being nervous is
part of taking the
assessment. So if you are
still not confident enough
to take the assessment.
