WesCom Defence is a world-renowned specialist manufacturer of pyrotechnic products
for Signalling and Illumination and Battlefield Training and Simulation.
Additionally, for over five decades WesCom Defence has provided leading edge
technology in Minefield Breaching Systems.
WesCom also produces a range of state of the art gas pressure generators, both for civil
and military applications.
Since the beginning, the company, which was founded on its present site in Bremerhaven,
Germany has specialised in the broad spectrum of pyrotechnic products and services
and this expertise continues to drive customer satisfaction as it has always done.
Using applied pyro-technology, paired with mechanical engineering, a fundamental
knowledge of inner and outer ballistics and the chemical engineering of effect, delay,
propulsion and ejection compositions, the company has developed an extensive range
of technologically advanced and innovative products.
Considerable investment in the automation of pyrotechnic production enables the
highest degree of quality assurance and reliability.
Our commitment to constant research and development, paired with our responsibility
towards the environment, has and will continue to optimise the range of products and
services that we offer.
Company History
In 1920 Friedrich Wilhelm Sander took over the company founded in 1853 by H.G.
Cordes in Bremerhaven-Geestemünde, which developed and produced canons for
whaling.
In 1930 he opened new industrial premises at Vieländer Weg primarily for testing and
proving but also to comply with the increased demand of pyrotechnic signal munitions.
• 1936 the factory was taken over by the DONAR GmbH.
• 1955 the site was acquired by Industriewerke Karlsruhe Augsburg.
• 1979 the company was bought by the Diehl Group.
• 2005 Chemring Group Plc. acquired the factory.
• August 2012 Chemring Group Plc. sold the company to Drew Marine USA.
• January 2017 Drew Defence GmbH was merged into Drew Marine Signal & Safety.
• October 2017 Name change to WesCom Signal & Rescue.

Application
The Simulator for Artillery and Multi-effects (SAM) is a launching device for Multiple Effect Cartridge System (MECS). It can be RF
controlled via Portable Control Unit (PCU). The SAM is available as a 16 (SAM 16) or 32 (SAM 32) shots device. The SAM is a device
for Simulation of Hostile Fire like Artillery. Its application is for outdoor training as a stand-alone device with an integrated battery.
Initiation can be done via RF. It is possible to ignite up to six rounds simultaneously or as a burst.

Minefield Breaching
Unconventionally deployed mines, booby traps, unexploded ordnance
and man-made obstacles, such as triple barbed wires, are meant to stall
military operations. The Portable Explosive Minefield Breaching Systems
(PEMBS) are tailored around these threats and provide an effective means
to safely eliminate them. PEMBS systems are also used for humanitarian
