whaling.
In 1930 he opened new industrial premises at Vieländer Weg primarily for testing and
proving but also to comply with the increased demand of pyrotechnic signal munitions.
• 1936 the factory was taken over by the DONAR GmbH.
• 1955 the site was acquired by Industriewerke Karlsruhe Augsburg.
• 1979 the company was bought by the Diehl Group.
• 2005 Chemring Group Plc. acquired the factory.
• August 2012 Chemring Group Plc. sold the company to Drew Marine USA.
• January 2017 Drew Defence GmbH was merged into Drew Marine Signal & Safety.
• October 2017 Name change to WesCom Signal & Rescue.

Signal & Illumination
Communication between combat forces and battlefield reconnaissance
at night is an essential element in operation. Our scope of products for
signal and illumination provide effective means for said purpose.

WesCom Defence uses automated production techniques to ensure not

only high cost effectiveness but also reliable quality products.

Reconnaissance of ground forces during night operations is a prerequisite.

Parachute Illumination Cartridges/Rockets provide appropriate visibility
during missions at night. Besides the illumination in the visual range,
infra-red illumination flares enhance the capability of night vision
goggles. Signal Flares in a variety of colours and configurations provide
also an appropriate means of communication on the battle field.

Light and Smoke Signal
Art No. 9181600
The Light and Smoke Lifebuoy Marker produces dense orange
smoke for 15 minutes and features two self contained, inversion
switched, LED lights which far exceed SOLAS requirements for
output and duration.
Ships are required to carry 2 markers, one mounted on each
bridge wing with the brackets supplied and attached by line to
a 4kg Lifebuoy. The signal is used to mark the position of a man
overboard by day or night. It can be automatically deployed by
releasing the attached lifebuoy, or manually activated.

Minefield Breaching
Unconventionally deployed mines, booby traps, unexploded ordnance
and man-made obstacles, such as triple barbed wires, are meant to stall
military operations. The Portable Explosive Minefield Breaching Systems
(PEMBS) are tailored around these threats and provide an effective means
to safely eliminate them. PEMBS systems are also used for humanitarian
de-mining.

Generally, a minefield creates an obstacle which will take out the

momentum of movements of military forces. To maintain the advance
of troops and not to reroute to a position favouring the enemy forces, a
fast and effective way to overcome this hindrance is essential in combat.

The Portable Explosive Minefield Breaching System (PEMBS) offers a

quick and effective way to safely eliminate deployed land-mines as well
as man-made obstacle such as triple barbed wires.
