Marcus Rashford can cover a lot of ground in ten seconds and

on Sunday, after England training, he ripped through some
“raring to go” niceties about being ready if called upon to face
Wales at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium on Tuesday. The forward
then launched into a defence of Gareth Southgate, his manager,
who is coming under intensifying and deserved scrutiny here in
Doha.

For 27 minutes at England’s Al Wakrah training base, Rashford

answered questions in his usual calm manner, yet it was the fact
that he took only ten seconds before addressing, unprompted,
the Southgate debate that immediately and inevitably caught
the attention.
