1. GENERAL

This listed specification covers the structure and performance of Submarine Cable as
manufactured by FiberHome Telecommunication Technologies Co., LTD (FiberHome).
Matters not mentioned in this technical specification shall be negotiated by customer and
FiberHome. Customization can be conducted reasonably. The number of fibre can be up
to 96.

2. REFERENT STANDARDS

The cable which FiberHome offered is designed, manufactured and tested based on
below standards, where the specification deviates from below standards, this
specification shall apply.

3. CABLE DESIGN

The design of the offered cable has been a typical structure of submarine cables which
is prevailing over the world and has been approved for stable performance in submarine
cable system. The design life of the submarine optic fiber cable is for a minimum of 25
years operation.

1) Loose tube/Hydrogen ingression protector

The protector is made from stainless steel tube which is filled with appropriate hydrogen
absorbing gel to protect the optic fiber inside the tube from hydrogen affection.

2) Stainless-steel tube and inner armoring

The cable core is made of stainless-steel tube and inner armoring steel, which can
provide enough protection of the optical fiber.

3) Inner sheath
The cable core is protected by a HDPE sheath for mechanical protection.

4) Outer armoring steel

Single layer of steel wires is stranded over the inner sheath to supply the tensile strength.
Interstice between armor layers is filled with asphalt or bitumen.

5) Outer sheath
Outer sheath, which is made of PP rope and asphalt is extruded over the armor tape to
protect the cable from mechanical abrasion during handling, transportation and cable
deploying, and the corrosion induced by hydrogen in the seawater.
