From reading all articles listed below, Rifikins and Marshall's disagreement is centred around
the amount of parts in a choir? Rifikin appears to have a more traditional view than Marshall.
Rifkin seems to prefer Bach’s chorus with ripienists and Marshall the opposite.
I believe they both are arguing about whether Bach wanted to give each singer another
part?
To close this small piece of writing I’d like to state. Trying to care about two opposing
opinions when the subject matter is one of which, I personally find boring and unstimulating,
is Incredibly difficult.
This exercise has allowed me to rethink my decisions in choosing this course. I also regret to
inform you that I do not look forward to our next assignment with MUSI:130.
