The document summarizes a site visit by architecture students to an approved industrial infrastructure park in Vadodara, Gujarat, India. The park is located near existing industrial estates and provides facilities and amenities for industry. During the visit, students learned about variable refrigerant flow HVAC systems, suspended plumbing systems that keep floors clear, and cable trays for flexible overhead wiring of power and data cables.

THE VARIABLE REFRIGERANT FLOW SYSTEM • VRF stands for variable refrigerant flow, which goes a surprisingly long way toward describing how this system uses refrigerant for both air conditioning and heating. In a nutshell, VRF is a ductless, large-scale system for HVAC that performs at a high capacity. • Unlike split ac equitpment, vrf allows multiple indoor units to run on the same system, which is designed differently depending on the application. VRF systems are considered either a heat pump system or a heat recovery system, which can heat and cool simultaneously. • Vrf products are customizable to meet the specifications of virtually any project, making them particularly appealing for commercial spaces and facility managers. SUSPENDED PLUMBING SYSTEM
• The plumbing fixtures are all suspended in the wall cavities,
keeping floors, Ceilings and outer walls clean and leak-free. The system is easily accessible through service ducts for repairs and maintenance. This system eliminates the need for ducts and offers more carpet area for the home. False ceilings are often secondary ceilings that are hung below the main ceiling with the help of suspension cords or struts. These ceilings are crafted from a wide range of Materials such as pop (plaster of paris), gypsum board, asbestos sheets, particle board, aluminium panel, wood etc. They are also known as dropped ceiling or suspended ceiling. CABLE TRAYS • Cable trays are a mechanical support system that can support electrical cables used for power distribution, control, and communication. They are the perfect solution for running large quantities of power or data cables overhead or under-floor. • Cable tray advantages include wiring system design flexibility, simplicity, and lower installation cost. In plants where equipment is added, taken away, or is moved, cable trays provide a flexible advantage. • Common cable trays are made of galvanized steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or glass-fiber reinforced plastic. The material for a given application is chosen based on where it will be used. • Cable trays are used as an alternative to open wiring or electrical conduit systems, and are commonly used for cable management in commercial and industrial construction. They are especially useful in situations where changes to a wiring system are anticipated, since new cables can be installed by laying them in the tray, instead of pulling them through a pipe.
