If I to be a millionaire, I would like to help the poor peoples but not by giving out
charity going from house to house but by gives money to the teenagers from less
fortunate families who want to make their families’ conditions good. This scholarships
would give them chance to study in better local universities or even to sponsor them to
study abroad. I would do so by invest my million ringgit to built a company that would
give the scholarships. Although, a million ringgit would not enough money for this
students for long. Thus, I will make the money become many more by invest more in
ASB or fix deposits. This is to continuously have a flow of passive income. The reason
for my decision is to low the poverty rate in Malaysia as I would like to help to the
country that I was born and raise in. Although I was not exactly raised with a silver
spoon inside my mouth, I had a really comfort life grow up and I think every one should
have a right to that live in this world. I wish I am a millionaire.
SAMPLE 2B

It has been very rightly said that “If wishes were horses, beggars would ride”. But
it is wonderful to have wishes. Even though they may not come true, there is no harm in
dreaming. Actually, I have pondered over this question since I was eight years old as I
aspired to be a millionaire after watching the popular American show, ‘How to be a
millionaire’. If I were a millionaire, then my life would take a dramatic turn from what it is
now. I would adopt the lifestyle of the rich and famous.

The first thing that I would do is to help my parents as they have raised me for
who I am today. It would be a dream come true if I could buy them a bigger, better and
more spacious, luxurious house. They would also be able to live a life of luxury, as I
could afford to hire butlers or servants to help my mother with her domestic chores. I
would custom-made a modern, state-of-the-art kitchen for my mother who always longs
for a bigger kitchen and an island to store her cooking utensils. Besides, she will have a
stretch of sophisticated wardrobe that stores her dresses and handbags which are all
from designers’ collections. On the other hand, my father would finally get his well-
earned break. He has been working from dawn to midnight all his life and has worked
extra hard to make ends meet. If I become a millionaire, I would ask him to stop
working, as he is old and withered, and badly needs to rest. After years of toiling, he is
only deserving of a comfortable, cozy life and I would not want him to die in harness.
Serving my parents like a king and queen will always be my dream, a millionaire or not.

Money is definitely a boon and can be a friend. Other than the changes I desire
for my parents, my life would change too. I would finally be able to afford better clothes
and would even be able to afford some designer labels like Gucci , YSL or Chanel
which cost quite a fortune, something I could not afford before. The cut throat price does
not bother me anymore. Furthermore, I would no longer be seen riding a motorcycle, as
I would be driving a fancy car. Driving in a flashy, convertible, red Ferrari with the wind
in my face has always been my dream. To maintain this image would mean that I would
not be able to socialize with some of my friends at the teh tarik stall. Instead, I would
now be able to take them out to dine at the best clubs in town and rub shoulders with
very special people, the social elite group or royalties. Perhaps my friends will find it a
once in a lifetime experience though maybe they will not be comfortable being
surrounded by such classy people. However, a few million ringgit would not suffice to
support such an extravagant lifestyle as it will be exhausted in no time given such
lifestyle.

With more money, I would definitely be able to go on holidays and feast my eyes
on God’s creations of the various landscapes and cultures around the world, something
I have always dreamt of doing. I could visit the famed Musee Du Louvre in Paris and
see the amazing Monalisa painting with the history and gossip surrounding her, or the
Statue of Liberty in the United States of America or the love icon, Taj Mahal in Agra. I
always dream of experiencing and witnessing the magic of spring where fresh buds
bloom, animals awaken and the earth seems to come to life again, or the picturesque
and florid autumn where trees lose their leaves. In addition, I would also be enthralled
seeing the falling snow for the first time and shivering in the freezing cold temperatures,
exacerbated by strong winds. All of these are only possible if I become a millionaire and
this dream will not be possible if I were just a nobody who earns a meagre salary.

Apart from my selfish dreams and wishes, I would finally be able to fulfil a long
cherished dream of helping the poor. I would be able to donate to charitable
organisations, not only in Malaysia but also in other countries, especially for Palestine. I
strongly feel that the poor and the needy really need our assistance as they have no
means to change their living conditions. In doing so, I need to diversify my income
through investments and diversifying the portfolio into stocks, real estate, equity and
bonds.so that the money will be long lasting.

Unfortunately when one becomes extremely rich, chances are he forgets the
plight of those who are less fortunate. My motto would be, “live and let live”. In fact I
would do all that and I could for my parents too so that they may not have to break their
backs working for us. I would make them so comfortable that even in their old age they
would feel great to be alive. It is also vital to remember to allocate wisely and plan my
spending with extreme caution so that I could achieve all my dream plans. As much as I
would like to enjoy the fruits of money, I would always remain sensitive and sympathetic
to the agony of those who are less fortunate as money is the root of all evil.

SAMPLE 2C

‘Money doesn’t grow on trees’. Ever heard of that phrase before? I bet you
have heard it at least once in lifetime. Usually it come out from the mouth of an
adult since they deal with money a lot on a daily basis. Not that I am saying
teenagers or kids don’t use money at all! They just probably doesn’t handle
money as frequently as an adult. Either way, it might not be the case if the
teenager or kid is a millionaire though.

If a day come when I become a millionaire, certainly the money will not
just stay untouched in my bank account. Given the privilege of having a lot of
money, I would use most of it to travel across the globe. Honestly, it is not a bad
idea to travel to various countries if you can afford to do it. I mean, when else will
you get the chance to do this kind of thing?

Some people will find it unbeneficial and waste of money. Despite the talks
of people, I have my own opinion that traveling providing knowledge and most
importantly experiences that you will never acquire just by read a book. It is by
traveling that we get to witness foreign cultures right in front of our own eyes, to
explore a country’s history or even to observe a country’s ancient civilization.

As for my plan regarding this activity, I might start by listing some of the
countries that I am planning to explore and eager to learn more about. In this
case, Europe tops the list. I always dream of visiting France, Netherland,
Germany and the friendly and historic Italy with its Colloseum where gladiators
used to fight in. I am also interested in going to Saudi Arabia to visit Mecca and
Madinah, the land of light and saw the cultures of the Arabs from up-close. By
doing so, I get to focus on which country that I haven’t been to and which country
to go to next. I really need to plan my globe trotting journey careful and think
about how many can I visit annually.

Apart from that, I think I will keeping a journal to scribble down some
educational experiences that I have gained from my journey so that I won’t forget
those valuable knowledge in a flash and maybe just to keep those memories
alive. Perhaps I can use an app such as ‘Trail wallet’ or ‘Polarsteps’ to track my
expenditure as well as the countries I have visited. Here, I can record my travel
photos and keep some notes of the wonderful place that I have visited. I can
revisit this sites any time I want and reminisce about the time spent in those
foreign lands.

Being a millionaire sure has its perks, but if you don’t know how to handle
the money well, they are simply just a waste then. Money is not everything but it
sure is something when you making use of it. Hopefully some day I will really
become a millionaire so that this wishes of mine will come true. I will always pray
for the day to come and work hard for it.

PART 3

Your teacher has asked you to write a story for a school

magazine. The story must have the title:
A trip I would never forget

● a description of the trip
● why the trip is unforgettable

Write your story.

SAMPLE 3A

Everyone must have been on a trip once. Not excluding me who had an unforgetting
memory from the trip I went on. Who know that the one and only scuba diving
experience for me turns up to be a disaster. The story began at home on a very cheerful
school holiday. I on top of the world when my parents throw me a congratulation party
for me getting 9A’s in PT3. In return for the 9A’s, they got me a free trip packaging with
scuba diving activity at Pangkor. Not to say that I was really like scuba diving, I quickly
pack all my nice clothes, toiletries and also my camera.

On the second day there, the first thing I begging my mother was to search for the
scuba diving centre. After pay for the scuba diving lesson, we brought to this one
special port for dive by a small boat. On the way there, the trainer teach me and my
family on how to breathe underwater correct and ways to handle the gas tank. Just
when I dives into sea, the scenery and beautiful creature underwater stunned me. That
very glorious moment was when I proudly show my sister the school of fish swimming
happily.

As time fly by, we decided to go back to the seashore. It was at this moment, my
younger sister, Syuhada suddenly go missing. My mother was very panicked. Soon, the
trainer’s crew finally finding her wandering far by the diving port as she engrossed
looking for a school of fish. Feeling grateful and mad at the same time, on our way back,
my mother nagging me not being able to take care of Syuhada. Thankful, the trip was
extremely tiring but it was also memorable event in my life.

A trip I would never forget

A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.
That was how I was transformed by an unforgettable trip I took. Back at the end of the
year school holiday in 2015, I went on a trip to Perth, Australia with my family. I was
only eleven years old back then and I was very grateful to have the chance to visit
Australia. It was the second time of my life. We spent the first few days at the city side
of Perth and stayed in a small but cozy hotel room. After a few days went by, we
switched our accommodation location to the countryside of Perth. From the environment
to the scenery, everything was completely different for both places yet both are very
unique in their own way. The sky was so blue and I thought that I had never quite seen
such a beautiful, blue sky in my whole life.

The main reasons why the trip is unforgettable for me is because of how friendly
the Australian people are. Everyone there welcomed us with open arms and treated us
very kindly which made us feel comfortable despite being different races and religions
with them. On top of that, I could never forget the plate of fish and chips that I had for
dinner in Fremantle city. It was one of the best fish and chips that I had ever eaten as
the fries were cooked perfectly and the fish was absolutely scrumptious. Additionally, I
also have the time of my life staying at our second accommodation which was a hilltop
resort as I am a person that loves nature. We had the chance to stumble upon wild
kangaroos on the hill and I also making friends with the daughter of the owner of the
resort. During night time, we were able to see countless stars in the sky and could even
spot some shooting stars which I think was a very incredible experience. Even though I
was quite sleepy at that time, I just could not stop myself from gazing at the sky and
wish that some day I would return to the same spot and do the same exact thing again.
On the next day, my sister already went shopping and bought the things that she
wanted to give to her friends. The price of the chocolates, clothes and souviners was
not that cheap if we converted it to our currency although there are duty shops that we
could buy chocolates and perfume. But for me, I just bought some chocolate for my
friends and myself. There’s so many brands of chocolate that we could buy there and
those who really liked the chocolate surely could not decide what type of chocolate they
wanted to buy. As for my mom, she had planned to buy some designer handbags but I
noticed that they were very expensive. So she decided to buy a small purse instead. I
thought that the trip had given me precious memories for my younger self. Thinking
back made me realized that I need to be very grateful for the chance of going on trips
like that as there are many people who dreamt of going to travel somewhere but never
had the chance to.

SAMPLE 3C

A trip I would not forget

Having slept for 10 hours, I felt a sense of dread when I was woken up by the
pilot telling the passengers to buckle up and prepare for landing. Hearing the words
landing immediately freshened me up as I realised I was about to arrive at the John F.
Kennedy International Airport soon. Coming from a humble middle class family in a
tropical country, I would have never thought that I would set foot on the Land of the
Free. Thanks to my team advancing to the final round of the World Scholars’ Cup, I
could go on other people’s once in a lifetime trip. Indeed, this was my dream come true
and I would never miss it for the world. Hence, this trip became one of the most
unforgettable trips I had ever taken.

Upon landing, I remembered I was greeted by the chilling, cold atmosphere at

the airport. I went to the United States of America during the winter and as expected,my
body that was used to the tropical climate was not coping well with the negative
numbers that were felt there. Little did I realise that a wintry afternoon could be so
freezing cold and I would never have thought I would be craving for warmth when I
would have done the opposite back in Malaysia. Nonetheless, seeing snow falling for
the very first time in my life and the smoky trails of my own breath every time I talked
reminded me of how much of the world I had not seen yet.

I thought visiting New York City’s iconic landmarks would be the highlight of my
trip but it was actually the interaction I had with the locals there that intrigued me more.
With the hijab donned, I could almost hear whispers of people around me wondering if I
were a terrorist or if I could actually speak English. It made me cringe and feel
uncomfortable as if I was in the face of some kind of adversities. Even though I
experienced some form of discrimination in this foreign land, the other friendly locals
who approached us and showed my group around made me realise the wide spectrum
of people that existed there.

After a good walk around the amazing city, we were taken to Yale, the second
oldest university in the States and a private, ivy-league university, so prestigious and
glorious. That was where we had our World’s Scholar’s Cup championship. My heart
pounded with excitement and at the same time in anticipation. The competition was
nerve-wrecking and I felt butterflies in my stomach when it came to my turn to debate
and unleash my creative streaks in the writing task assigned. Despite my anxiety, I was
rather calm and composed when undertaking those tasks, which surprised me a great
deal and so were my friends. Faces of other contestants who were mainly caucasians
added to the apprehension but they did not deter me from giving out my best. My
mother’s words rang in my ears, life has no limitations except the ones you make. At
the end of the three-day ordeal, the results were announced and we felt like we were on
top of the world when we secured a couple of gold medals and three silver in the
different categories we took part in. Victory was so sweet as we were all beaming with
tears, hugging each other tight, moments that I will never forget.. That evening, we
celebrated the significant, joyous occasion in a very nice, although not too fancy
restaurant. I guess the trip was well worth it.
The week-long journey on this stunning land had finally come to an end but I
hope I can experience another trip similar to this. Instead of being absorbed by the
landscape, the victory or the stuff that I bought, I gained a lot of knowledge from the
multi-cultured, interesting people around me. Apart from the minor discomfort I
experienced when I set foot on the American soil, the trip was nonetheless totally
spectacular. At times, on a cold day in my home land, I would reminisce about the
chilling, wintry days in New York. The quote, live with no excuses and travel with no
regrets, by Oscar Wilde rang true every time memories of New York flashed before me.
