Autodromo Nazionale
The construction of the National Autodrome was
decided in January 1922 by the ACI Milan to cele-
brate the 25th year of activity and to make available
to the Italian automobile industry a track for exper-
imental tests and competitions. The track included
a road track and a speed ring for a total of 14 km.
1.14 Cna. Bastia
The rural complex is composed of three main build-
ings arranged in a U-shape. To the north, the wing
is rectangular in plan, has arcades with brick col-
umns on the south front and masonry on the north
front. The body to the west of the patio, in which
there is the rental of bicycles and broadsides.
1.11 Cna./ Ostello Costa Alta
On the beginning of the 19th century, it used to be
a Royal Stable. Is located between the Biassono and
Santa Maria delle Selve gates and presents the com-
position typologies of the stately villas. At present it
is a Youth Hostel, with a multifunctional room locat-
ed on the first floor. It offers educational activities too.
1.17 Cna./ Centro Diurno Costa Bassa
With a clear neoclassical style, characterized by a
compact plant, the Cascina Costa Bassa was known
as the “Horse Hospital”, and there was a time when
it was used as a resting place during the royal
walks. The farm today is a day center for the elderly
1.5 Cna. Frutteto/ Scuola Agraria
It is the current headquarters of the Agrarian
School of the Park of Monza; at first it was arranged
in the center of a garden projected in the shape
of a diamond, which has recently been rehabili-
tated. In the side buildings was the block, vault-
ed, for the cows, separated from that of the oxes.
0.3 Centro RAI
The RAI Control Center, designed in 1950 in a rationalist
style by the architect Gio Ponti, formerly the author of the
Pirelli skyscraper in Milan, has a curvilinear plan reminis-
cent of a parabolic antenna, opposed by a square body.
Golf Course
The Milan Golf Club was born in 1928 thanks to
Senator Giuseppe Bevione. This is located on
the original Bosco Bello, which was deforest-
ed in a large amount to create the golf courses.
Ex - Ippodromo
Inaugurated in 1924 by the architect Paolo Vietti Vi-
oli, it´s racetrack had two slopes of 1,800 and 2,200
meters, with a pair of grandstands of 1,500 seats.
After numerous competitions, attended in the first
twenty years by the Milanese upper class, in 1976
the last Grand Country of Cruz de Monza took place.
0.5 Lo Scrittore
The work, as Neri himself explains, “celebrates the lone-
liness of the writer”, symbolizing the process of writing
creation, which “forces” total isolation from the outside
world. The writer, alienating himself from the reality
that surrounds him, remains alone at his work desk.
2.3 Mol. del Cantone
Built in 1840 according to the Giacomo Tazzini project,
the Molino del Cantone is located in the center of a for-
est area along the Lambro, which was a privileged point
of observation. Currently access to the property is lim-
ited and is allowed with prior authorization from the
Villa Reale Consortium for study and research reasons.
4.3 Villa Mirabello
Lodging of the XVIIth century, that already existed be-
fore the creation of the Park, Villa Mirabello is related at
the scenographic level with Villa Mirabellino by means
of a walk with a double row of hornbeams. The walls are
completely covered with frescoes and the ceiling has
painted allegorical characters and mythological scenes.
4.1 Villa Reale
Large architectural complex of neoclassical style that
the Kings of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and then
those of the Kingdom of Italy used as residence. This vil-
la is one of the three most important royal villas in Italy.
Nowadays it gives accomodation to several exhibitions.
