Program Spotlight....
Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) refers to activities that involve interactions with horses that are geared toward
experiential learning or “learning by doing”. The focus of this program is for the client to build self-confidence, trust, and
respect for themselves while learning to effectively communicate and bond with a horse.
These ground based activities can be offered to individuals or groups to focus on concepts and principles, and solution
focused problem solving. Typically, the client participates in an activity with the horses on the ground, and the trained
facilitator guides the learning process. The focus of EFL is not riding or exclusively horsemanship. The focus involves
choosing ground activities involving the horses, which will require the client or group to apply certain skills and learn
new tools to better manage their lives.
This approach teaches the client to trust and respect themselves first and then educates the client in trusting and
respecting others. Learning the horse’s language of trust and respect is an ideal segway to building a solid foundation of
self-respect and self-confidence, which transfers into everyday life.
Providing hope and healing through gentle horses and the love of God since 1996.
If you are looking for ways to connect in our mission and cheer with us at Chisholm Challenge or donate your time weekly as an arena volunteer we
encourage you to reach out. You are always welcome to stop in for a visit and see our new space, or set up a time for us to come and visit with you and
share our needs further.

Participation is through invitation and all centers are PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship,
International) member centers, ensuring that all competitors have certified instructors, and trained horses and
recognize and respect all safety requirements.
The skills and pride demonstrated at this event truly showcases the partnership of horses and humans. We encourage
you to be a part of supporting this partnership and advocating for inclusion of those with disabilities in our community.
