WINGS OF HOPE EQUITHERAPY
While so much of our world is thriving on living in
the moment and carrying the curveballs of 2020
into 2021, one day at a time, we are reminiscent of
days gone by. 9,125 days to be precise. 1,300 weeks,
300 months 25 years. We will spend 2021 reflecting
on the days and years of our past and celebrate
partnering horses and humans.
There have been many peaks, hills, and valleys
during Wings of Hope's two and a half decades of
service. Peaks of success in the saddle, uphills of
leadership & growth, and valleys of turbulent
economies and operations that have seen it
through to the other side. Throughout 25 years of
memories, we reflect on a journey that includes
some challenging times, but more significantly, a
reflection of memories that include a spirit of faith,
hope, healing, and discovery. This space has been
witness to so many dreams becoming reality and
so many breakthroughs that provide a way to face
reality and utilizing a horse to provide a
partnership that paves the way to breakthroughs
and celebrations.
We celebrate our Equine Service Partners and all of
the many horses that have served in this barn. We
celebrate the story and voice that is uniquely
associated with countless families seeking
sanctuary through the partnership of a horse. We
also celebrate the many hands that have dedicated
gifts of service and funds to bring the mission to
life.

We also remember, honor, and celebrate Nancy Knox, a notable and
integral partner in Wings of Hope's success and who is the namesake of
our covered arena.
Nancy Knox was an avid equestrienne in the cutting horse world. She was
introduced to us in the late 1990s through a mutual friend of the mission
when Wings of Hope was a fledgling operation. Nancy spent a lot of time
in the show ring and traveling but wanted to become more involved in the
mission when her schedule allowed. When she was introduced to us,
Wings was less than 5 years old and was trying to find a permanent home
so that we would no longer operate out of Co-Founders' Margaret and
Patti’s homes and have a barn to call our own. During that time there was
much work, planning, and praying to purchase land to have a forever
home. Unfortunately, Nancy was never able to become fully involved in
our mission as a volunteer as she hoped, due to her untimely death. But
she believed so much in our mission and our mutual connection of the
love of the Lord and horses that her family was led to gift Wings a gift in
her memory. A gift of answered prayers, dreams brought to reality, and a
sizeable amount in the 1990s economy. This gift allowed WOH to build on
our newly purchased land to construct our current facility including the
arena, barn/stalls, offices, etc.
Due to Nancy Knox's unexpected generosity and donation, Wings was able
to build debt-free and has remained debt-free.
Twenty-five years later this is a gift that keeps on giving. We recognize
that without that gift we could have very well seen a different outcome in
the economic downturns of 9/11, recessions, 2020, etc. In as such, we
commemorate and celebrate Nancy's love of horses and have honored her
legacy and namesake through thousands of rides and millions of
footsteps, both horse and human in the Nancy Knox Memorial arena at
Wings of Hope.

Twenty-five years ago in 1996, our Co-Founders Margaret Dickens and Patti Pace laid the groundwork that has no
doubt impacted thousands of lives because of the partnership of a horse. While in 2021 there is much uncertainty
in our world in unprecedented times, we recognize and acknowledge that the partnership of a horse is more vital
than ever. 2021 marks Wings of Hope’s 25th year of operation. If 25 years of service has taught us anything we
know that we are better together. It is through friendships like yours that truly allow us to be better together
which is certainly worth celebrating.

As we reflect on our 25 years of partnering horses and humans, it presents us with many emotions filled with
pride, gratitude, and appreciation. It takes us on a trip down memory lane with many faces and names that have
created a rich history and implemented a deep-rooted vision that has shaped our mission into what it is today.
We take pride in the faithful service of horses always willing to make a lasting impression, volunteers & staff who
selflessly give and bring the mission to life, and in donors and supporters in our community who collaborate to
provide sustainability.

You are an integral part of the partnership of each of our equestrians and their horse, and we thank you for
blessing us with your friendship and support. In these difficult times, we remain dedicated to providing the
partnership of horses and humans for those managing life with a disability and navigating the challenges
associated with it. We remind you when you donate, your gift endorses inclusion and provides a place of hope and
healing. Thank you for investing in the sustainability of our mission, serving with us and celebrating 25 years
alongside us.
