Unprecedented!
There have been a lot of words used to describe the current situation
we find ourselves in, a popular one that sums it up for me is
‘unprecedented’. Here is the definition I found: “unparalleled, unequalled,
unmatched, unrivalled, prodigious!” And it is true, no one has ever been
through this and no one has ever experienced something like this. More
than ever we need to have unity and bring hope.
The news last week said this - “the delay in getting children and
adolescents back to school is a national disaster and is putting their mental
health at risk. The experts warn of lifelong consequences for them and
society"
We not only find ourselves in ‘unprecedented times’ but I believe we
also find ourselves with an ‘unprecedented opportunity’, an opportunity
to serve kids and young people at a time when they feel most
vulnerable. The church is a powerful and significant force when it comes
together and chooses
to have an impact on
the local community. We
want to help the church
consider ways to really
support and journey with
kids and young people
as they navigate this
uncharted territory. It
requires us to focus a
lot less on the programs
we run and more on
spending time listening
and being with people.
267 wants to walk
with you at this time,
encourage you, point
you towards resources
to help and spend time
supporting the leaders
that are going to reach
out to the kids and young
people God has given you.
So what is 267 doing:
We’ve ‘Zoomed’ with Fuel. We’ve recorded loads
of podcast (check out www.the267project.com
for these). We’ve written blogs. We’ve run Fuel
Live on Instagram and Facebook each week.
We are still here!

Our Fuel themes have included Jonah, the

miraculous catch of fish, the calming of the storm and the Good Samaritan.
You are welcome to Join us every Sunday at 7pm.

l The Haven is doing amazing new things
at such a vital time. The Haven is giving
out 150 ‘anxiety-busting’ care packs to
teenagers. We are also exploring the
possibility of a ‘Haven App’ and also having
conversations with schools to see when
we are able to visit as soon as is safe and
appropriate.
l Supporting leaders by running regular
‘Tribe Breakfasts’.
l Encouraging churches by getting in
touch with leaders.
l Recording Podcasts and Vlogs to
support, inform and train leaders and
volunteers.

l Socially-distant 1-to-1’s with young l Reaching out to churches we know less

people and leaders.
l Recording Xsite events for kids to watch,
get involved with and be encouraged in
their faith.

can support them
l Running ‘Fuel Zoom’ every two weeks.

Now I know much of this we have always been doing but I really do feel that now is the
time for us to ‘up our game’ and really serve the places God has called us to. “For such a
time as this” is a phrase that is used a lot but what if the world realises that Jesus and the
church is the missing piece and how we serve people at this time speaks volumes about
our faith. Over the coming months as we exit lockdown, at whatever pace is appropriate,
we have much work to do. Kids, young people, parents and leaders will be battered and
bruised by the last few months and we need to prayerfully consider the ministry we need
to prioritise at this time.

Do check these out as they are hugely
encouraging.
l The Haven received a £5000 grant
which is amazing, and we are so
thankful. We are going to use it to
directly reach out and support over 100
young people we have connect with
through The Haven.
l Our Fuel Zoom time was so
encouraging and over 20 young people
joined us - the incentive of pizza
being delivered to them did help! We
give thanks also to Sam for bringing
a great message about the current
conversations regarding racism in our
world. We also give thanks to Alex who
led worship from her home. God is good
and is raising up a significant generation
of gifted, passionate and articulate
leaders.
l We give thanks for Liz and Ellie at this
time who have been working and then
also taking some furlough time. It is a
tricky time and we give thanks for their
flexibility and patience.
l We give thanks to Christ Church who
has generously given us a ‘rent holiday’
for our office space.
l We also give thanks to Vineyard
Church who have lent us some space
for the storage of our 267 kit. We had to
move out of our previous storage venue
during lockdown!! Thank you Henry, Mark
and Richard for your generosity and
support.
Please...
l Pray for Mike and the trustees as we
consider whether furlough is right for
some of our team.
l Pray for the team as they experience
a very different way of working (or not
working!).
l We hope to run a couple of fundraisers
over the summer so prayers for the
logistics of these events during the
current environment.
l Our annual Fundraising Golf Day didn’t
happen because of lockdown and so
we find ourselves missing a generous
amount of donations from this day. We
hope to reschedule the Golf Day for late
September but pray that God will give us
all we need at this time.
l Pray for young people going back to
school. It won’t be the same but we pray
this small amount of ‘normality’ and
seeing friends will be a light in the dark.
l We still hope to have our fundraising
Snowdon climb which has been
rescheduled for late September, pray
that we are allowed into Wales and that
we can run this event.
l Pray for all those effected by
Covid-19, in all the different ways it has
had an impact, pray for God to bring
peace, healing and hope.

your unfailing love, Lord,
supported me. When anxiety was
great within me, your consolation
brought me joy.”

l We hope to run a Festival Houseparty/
Fuel Day at some point. We know that
so many people will be missing the
festivals/camps they had planned to go
on, so we are looking at putting on a day
of appropriate gathering, online content,
games, food deliveries, worship, teaching,
breakout chat rooms, seminars and a
whole bunch of other great stuff. We will
keep you informed as plans evolve.
l We are joining with Younglife
International to help run a ‘discipleship
week’ at the beginning of August.
This will be a great time for young people
and leaders to appropriately come
together and be encouraged in their
journey of faith.
