c. Contribution of past stages of Philippine Politics to the current politics setting

As defined, politics is activities associated with the government of a country or other areas
that consist of decision making in groups or other forms of power relations. Thus, we can’t deny
the fact that the past stages of Philippine politics brought different changes and services as the
basis for the current politics. Furthermore, it gives negative conclusions why we are living in
today’s government that full of corrupt practices. Way back then, politicians are engaged to run
for public office to serve and provide good service for Filipino people. The people treat the
government officials as hero in a positive way. There are lot of politicians in an early year that
really excel and fit for public service. They saw the government as a bridge to help in providing a
lot of jobs and opportunities to make changes to the life of each and every Filipino. As a result,
Filipino citizens grew up in a more responsible government. Also, Filipinos are actively
participating to make betterment in the country. Indeed, they base their chosen candidates to their
platforms, track records and such. For them, their choices reflect their own values. They ensure
that their votes will go in a right way. However, it seems like contradicting to the current politics.
The past stages of Philippine politics didn’t contribute to improve nor eradicate the illegal doings
of the government officials. As may sound as cliché, Philippine government are getting worst and
worst. Politician’s todays don’t have the courage to learn on the issues that our country is facing.
Alarmingly, graft and corruption are still relevant. The qualification of becoming a public servant
is lacking. Why we wouldn’t raise are standard in choosing the best and fit candidate? Why we are
going to settle for less if there is a politician who have a clean management and track record? In
todays, everyone is welcome to run for public office without concrete plans for Filipino people
and has a history of wrong doings in the government. Thus, because of this apathy and ignorance
of people who is incompetent to solve the certain issues of the country. Because of our selfishness,
we suffer for almost 6 years. Moreover, political aspirants are concerned not about their platforms
and programs but rather they concerned about how many votes they can get in order for them to
do selflessly act. Thus, vote buying is extremely relevant. We can’t deny the fact that our
politicians revolve around celebrities rather than to focus on the issues of the government.

On a final note, we should look back to the old political parties that had been actively serves
for good for Filipino people. Personally, stating facts and voters’ education about the background
of the candidates serves as sky impossible to reach for some Filipino people because they don’t
want to be educated. Some of the Filipino people are closed their heart and mind for constructive
criticism.
