14. The coordinates of the points A and B are (–3, 7) and (2, 3) respectively. Let P be a moving point
in the rectangular coordinate plane such that AP = BP. Denote the locus of P by Γ. Γ intersects the
y-axis at the point D. Find the area of ΔABD. (3 marks)

15. Peter is going to buy some bowls and chopsticks for a party. There are 3 kinds of packages in a
supermarket.
Package X cost $3 each and contains 2 bowls and 2 pairs of chopsticks.
Package Y cost $5 each and contains 4 bowls and 1 pairs of chopsticks.
Package Z cost $4 each and contains 6 pairs of chopsticks only.
Peter wants to buy a total of 21 packages from the supermarket.
Let x, y and z be the numbers of packages X, Y and Z bought respectively.
(a) (i) Find, in terms of x and y, the total number of bowls bought. (1 mark)
(ii) Find, in terms of x and y, the total number of pairs of chopsticks bought. (1 mark)
(b) Furthermore, Peter needs at least 48 bowls and the number of pairs of chopsticks should not
be less than the number of bowls.
(i) Write down the inequalities that represent the constraints on x and y, where x and y
are non-negative integers. (1 mark)
(ii) Draw suitable straight lines on Figure 1 and mark all ordered pairs (x, y) which satisfy
the inequalities in (b)(i).
