Unless otherwise specified, numerical answers must be either exact or correct to 3 significant figures.
The diagrams in this paper are not necessarily drawn to scale.
2. Suppose the length, the width and the height of a rectangular prism are measured as 8 cm, 9 cm
and 10 cm respectively, and the scale interval of the measuring tool is 0.2 cm. Is it possible that
the actual total surface area of the prism is 473 cm2? Explain your answer. (4 marks)

15. Peter is going to buy some bowls and chopsticks for a party. There are 3 kinds of packages in a
supermarket.
Package X cost $3 each and contains 2 bowls and 2 pairs of chopsticks.
Package Y cost $5 each and contains 4 bowls and 1 pairs of chopsticks.
Package Z cost $4 each and contains 6 pairs of chopsticks only.
Peter wants to buy a total of 21 packages from the supermarket.
Let x, y and z be the numbers of packages X, Y and Z bought respectively.
(a) (i) Find, in terms of x and y, the total number of bowls bought. (1 mark)
(ii) Find, in terms of x and y, the total number of pairs of chopsticks bought. (1 mark)
(b) Furthermore, Peter needs at least 48 bowls and the number of pairs of chopsticks should not
be less than the number of bowls.
(i) Write down the inequalities that represent the constraints on x and y, where x and y
are non-negative integers. (1 mark)
(ii) Draw suitable straight lines on Figure 1 and mark all ordered pairs (x, y) which satisfy
