DEAN STUDENTS’ WELFARE OFFICE
ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The office of the DSW co-ordinates and is associated with a number


of activities related to the welfare of students. For this purpose, the Dean Students’
Welfare, along with a team of Deputy and Assistant DSWs, delivers the
responsibilities entrusted to this office. The role and responsibilities of
DSW are listed as follows:
• The D.S.W. co-ordinates the activities of various Halls of Residence
and the Non- Resident Students’ Centre and the work of allotment of
residential accommodation and shifting of residential students from one
Hall to another Hall.
• The D.S.W. also monitors the functioning of the University Health
Service and indoor treatment of students in consultation with the Chief Medical
Officer and the Provost of the Halls of residence concerned.
• The D.S.W. coordinates the proper functioning of the dining halls to
ensure uniformity of food cost and quality of food to the possible extent.
The DSW is also Chairman of the Canteen Committee.
• The D.S.W. is actively involved in the running of the Coaching and Guidance
Centre, National Social Service Scheme, Employment Bureau, Cultural
Education Centre of the University and other co-curricular activities of
students, in consultation with the In-Charge of the organization concerned.
• The D.S.W. is also the Coordinator of Admissions of Foreign Students and
issues character certificates to the students after satisfactory reports
issued from the Provosts, the Dean of Faculty concerned and the Proctor.
• The D.S.W. co-ordinates and arrange the disbursement of all
financial aids, scholarships, stipends etc. to the students.
• The D.S.W. makes arrangements with Railway authorities for the
issue of railway concessions to students during vacations, for educational
tours and for students’ participation in extracurricular activities and sports.
• The admission/continuation to various test/non-test courses are
processed and completed every year by extending all facilities at the
level of the DSW.
• The DSW actively participates in erection of Pandals for celebration of
important events like Sir Syed Day and Annual
Convocation/programme in a befitting manner.
• Names of toppers, according to their merit, are recommended by DSW to
be seated in Prime Minister’s Box to witness the Republic Day Parade as
and when asked by the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India.
• The D.S.W. shall work for the welfare of the students as prescribed in the
Regulations and also as directed by the Vice-Chancellor from time to time.

General Terms and Conditions

1. All Fellowships and Aid to Students shall be credited to the student’s


account from where awardees will be allowed to withdraw their credited
balance according to rules (except for Ph.D. scholars, foreign students,
backward class and scheduled caste students).

2. Research students getting Fellowships or Research Scholarships shall


cease to get the same, if they are appointed teachers in the University or
its maintained institutions.

3. All Scholarships shall be tenable for the same number of months for which
tuition fee is charged unless otherwise provided in these Regulations,
provided always that 75% of Scholarships of any description open to male
candidates below the academic status of Masters, shall only be held by the
students residing in the Halls of the University.

4. Scholarships which remain vacant under any particular category for any
reason may be awarded to the student next in merit, in the same category
but may not be awarded to a student of any other category.

5. Application for the “Aid to Students” (Studentships) and


Scholarships other than Fellowships and Research Scholarships must be
submitted on the prescribed form to the Dean Students’ Welfare, on the
prescribed date, through the Provost and/or the Chairman of the
Department and Dean of the Faculty concerned.

6. A meritorious and financially deserving student may be allowed to draw


more than one scholarship tenable during the academic session; provided that
the total amount of award does not exceed Rs.30,000/- per annum excluding
Donor Assistance/Scholarship/any financial support/assistance from
Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Other conditions of the scholarships
awarded by the outside agencies are also fulfilled. Also while availing
financial assistance from outside agencies student will be eligible to avail
“University Merit Financial Award” (The nomenclature of

University Merit Scholarship has been changed to “University Merit
Financial Award” vide letter D.No.(c)/7668 dated 19.08.2014). Students
who are in receipt of U.P. Govt. / Central Govt. Scholarship will not be eligible
to get HF (Half Freeship) / FF (Full freeship)/Studentship (revised as “Aid
to Students”).Students who are in receipt of U.P. Govt. and Central
Govt. Scholarships will have to return the HF (Half freeship) /FF
(Full freeship)/ Studentship (revised as “Aid to Students”) amount, if
awarded at any stage. In case of award of University Scholarship, fee
concession (full or half freeship), may be given provided the total
amount does not exceed Rs.30,000/- per annum.

7. The following are the rules for the award of Merit Scholarship in Persian,
Arabic and Sanskrit:

(i) Scholarship shall be awarded strictly on merit.

(ii) Scholarship shall be awarded strictly on the basis of a test in Senior


Secondary School Certificate, B.A. (Hons.) and M.A.

(iii) Those who are awarded the Scholarship of B.A. (Hons.) during
first year shall receive the Scholarship for the entire course, provided
they secure at least second division marks in the subject at the
end of each year.

(iv) Those who get Scholarship in M.A. during the first year will get
it for two years, provided they secure at least second division
marks in the subject at the end of each year.

(v) If a Scholarship falls vacant in B.A. (Hons.) after first year, a test
shall be held. If there is a vacancy in B.A. (Hons.) and M.A. after
second and first year, respectively, the Scholarship shall be awarded
on the basis of marks obtained in the preceding examinations.

(vi) Half of the Scholarships will go to Women’s College at the


Undergraduate level.

8. The term of all the Merit Scholarships based on Competitive test and
University Examination results in the Faculties of Agricultural Sciences,

Arts, Social Sciences, Science, Life Sciences and Law shall initially be for
11 months which may further be continued in the subsequent years
depending on the performance of the previous examinations where the
percentage of marks should not be less than 60%. If the Scholarship
holder fails in the Examination or indulges in misconduct, the Scholarship
shall not be continued in subsequent years. The Scholarship falling vacant
on these accounts will be awarded to the candidate who have appeared in the
respective Examinations and is/are next in order of merit. Also, if a student
is awarded “University Merit Financial Award” during first
year/first semester and then he/she is admitted to any new
course, the remaining period of “University Merit Financial
Award” may be given to the student standing next in the order of merit (if
recommended by the Chairman of the Department concerned)

9. The Scholarships in Faculty of Medicine shall be tenable for 18 months


instead of 11 months.

6. SHABNAM ZAIDI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

One Scholarship of Rs.125/- per month, tenable for 10 months, shall


be awarded to a student of M.A. (Previous) (English), who secures highest
marks in English in B.A. (Final) examination. The Scholarship will
continue in M.A. (Final) (English) also for a period of 10 months, subject to
his/her good progress. The expenditure shall be met out of the interest

8. M.A. SHAHEED MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

awarded to a student of M.A. (Previous) (Urdu) who stood First at B.A.
(Hons.) (Final) Year Examination. The expenditure shall be met out

9. PROF. ABDUL ALEEM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP IN ARABIC

Out of the interest on donation of Rs.1,00,000/- received through Dr.


Shahid Jamil, two Scholarships of Rs.250/- per month each, tenable for
10 months, shall be awarded, one for M.A. (Arabic) and another for
M.A. (Islamic Studies) courses.

10. ALHAJ BEGUM QAZI ALMAS KHAN SCHOLARSHIP

income of his parent/guardian does not exceed Rs.2,000/- per month.
The Scholarship shall continue for the duration of the course provided the
recipient continues good progress in studies. Expenditure will be met out of the
interest earned on the donation made by Dr.

16. HAMEEDUDDIN KHAN SCHOLARSHIP

Two scholarships of Rs.45/- per month, tenable for 11 months, to be


awarded every year to deserving Muslim students, each of the Faculties of
Medicine, Science, Life Sciences and Engineering and Technology.

17. SIR ABDUL RAUF SCHOLARSHIP (LOAN)

There is a provision of Rs.1,500/- per year, to be distributed


from amongst deserving students of Engineering by the Academic
Council, on the recommendation of the Principal, Z.H. College
of Engineering and Technology and University Polytechnic.
Students selected for this award shall be required to execute a bond.

18. MRS. RAFIA SULTAN SCHOLARSHIP

Two Scholarships/Stipends of Rs.200/- per month tenable for

Four Scholarships, each of the value of Rs.250/- per month , tenable for
12 months, to be awarded to the students, one each from First,
Second, Third and Fourth Year of B.Tech. (Civil). The award of
Scholarships shall be made to students without consideration of
religion, cast, creed, sex or any other such aspect. The Scholarships
shall be given on the basis of merit-cum-financial need. The
expenditure will be met out of the interest earned on the
donation of Rs.1,00,000/- made by Mr. Krishna Murari Gupta.

23. KRISHNA ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP (ELECTRONICS

One Scholarship of Rs.250/- per month tenable for 12 months, out of


the interest on donation of Rs.1,00,000/- given by Shri Krishna

The Scholarships shall be awarded to students without consideration

every year at the beginning of the Academic Session.

24. KARGIL HERO CAPTAIN HANEEFUDDIN KRISHNA


ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP IN COMPUTER ENGINEERING

One Scholarship of Rs.250/- per month, tenable for 12 months, out


of the interest on donation of Rs.1,00,000/- given by Shri Krishna
Murari Gupta, shall be awarded to one student each studying in First,
Second, Third and Fourth Year B.Tech. (Computer Engineering). The
Scholarships shall be awarded to students without consideration of
religion, cast, creed, sex or any other such aspect. The scholarship shall
be awarded on the basis of merit-cum-financial need. The students
shall be selected for the award in the beginning of the session and the
award list shall be sent to the donor and also to the mother of
Captain Haneefuddin.

25. HUSNA SHIBLI SCHOLARSHIP

Out of the interest earned on donation of Rs.1,12,000/- given by


the sons and daughter of Maulana Shibli Nadvi, nine Scholarships (3 in
Electronics Engineering, 3 in Computer Engineering and 3 in Chemical
Engineering), one each to the students of Second, Third and Fourth
Year of each of the above branches @ Rs.125/- per month each,
tenable for 10 months, will be awarded as per detailed terms and
conditions contained in Executive Council (AMU) Resolution No.14 of
the minutes dated 27.2.98 and circulated under No.C-III-EC (sch)
–5/550 dated 01.4.99.

26. PROF. KR. KHALIL A. KHAN SCHOLARSHIP

(i) One Scholarship of the value of Rs.100/- per month


tenable for 10 months, shall be awarded in the Third Year,
on the basis of merit of Second Year B.Tech. (Electronics)
result and financial status of the student.
(ii) One Scholarship of the value of Rs.100/- per month tenable for

This Scholarship of Rs.200/- per month, for 10 months, out of the


donation of Rs.20,000/- made by Syed Ali Jafar, shall be awarded
to the best Muslim student of Fourth Year Electrical Engineering on the
basis of his/her three years performance in the class. The awardee
should not take/ have not taken any other Scholarship from any
source after or before the award of this scholarship. The Chairman of
the Department /D.S.W. shall communicate to the donor,Prof. S. Jafar

29. PANDIT SURENDRA NATH MISHRA VIDYA MERIT


SCHOLARSHIP

One Merit Scholarship shall be awarded to a student of B.Tech. III Year


(any branch) at Z.H. College of Engineering and Technology, as a
regular student having passed his/her I and II Year B.Tech. Examination
in first attempt, for 20 months of the two academic sessions during which
he/she would pursue his/her studies in III and IV Year of B.Tech. course. The

There is a provision of two scholarships entitled “Dr. Fareed A. Nizami

There is a provision of four scholarships of Rs.1000/- per month,


tenable for 12 months to be given to the students of B.Tech.(Final) in
the branches of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Computer Engineering
(one each). These scholarships are to be given to economically weak
muslim students (to be decided mutually by Dean and Chairman)
and also on the basis of results of first year to third year B.Tech.

Four Scholarships (two for boys and two for girls) of the value of Rs.300/-
per month each, tenable for 10 months, will be awarded to students of
M.Sc. (Final)( Botany) who have secured First Division marks in the M.Sc.
(Previous) (Botany) course in order of merit. If during any session, the
required number of students in the ratio mentioned above is not available,
the scholarship may not be awarded in any other manner and the remaining
unpaid amount carried over may be distributed in the next year equally
among the four students. The expenditure will be met out of the interest
earned on the donation of Rs.1,00,000/- made by Dr. Rashid Farooq.

5. PROF. ABDUL MAJID SIDDIQUI SCHOLARSHIP

One Scholarship of the value of Rs.500/- per month, tenable for


10 months, will be awarded to a student of M.Sc. (Bio-chemistry)

Examination in the First Division. If the recipient gets First Division in
M.Sc. (Biochemistry) Previous Year Examination, the said
Scholarship will also continue in M.Sc. (Final). Financial position of

of the interest earned on the donation made by convener C.A.N.E.
Coordinator Scholarship Fund, New Delhi.

6. AFZAL MUNIR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

One Scholarship of the value of Rs.1,000/- per month, tenable for 10


months, out of the interest earned on the donation of Rs.1,10,000/-given
by Prof. Munir Ahmad shall be awarded every year on merit-cum-means
basis to a student of M.Sc. (Previous) in the Department of Bio-chemistry,
Faculty of Life Sciences, who qualifies in a test and/or an interview to be
conducted by the Department every year. The selection committee shall consist
of D.S.W., Finance Officer, Chairman of Bio-chemistry Department., Faculty
of Life Sciences; one Professor other than Chairman, Department. of Bio-
chemistry, Faculty of Life Sciences.
Dr. Nafees Ahmad Farooq, Reader, Department. of Anatomy, JNMC
shall represent the donor in the final selection of the award of
the above scholarship.

7. PROF. M. MASHKOOR ALAM SCHOLARSHIP

Two Scholarships, one in M.Sc. (Previous) and the other in M.Sc.


(Final) year of the value of Rs.350/- per month shall be awarded in the
Department of Botany as per the following terms and conditions:

(a) A Departmental Test shall be conducted by the Chairman, Department


of Botany, every year after inviting applications from those students
who join M.Sc. (Botany) and whose parents’ income does not
exceed Rs. 1 lakh per annum. The Scholarship will be awarded
to the student securing the highest marks.

(b) The whole process will be monitored by a Committee consisting of the


Dean Students’ Welfare, Chairman, Department of Botany and a
representative of the donor.

There is a provision of one scholarship entitled, “Prof. Nawab Hasan Khan


Memorial Scholarship”, to be awarded to a student of M.Sc Part I of

from this University with good grades and is financially weak. The said

9. PROF. ABBAS HUSSAIN MUSAVI MEMORIAL WILDLIFE


CONSERVATION FELLOWSHIP

The fellowship is to be awarded to a student of Fourth Semester of M.Sc.


(Wild life Sciences) on the basis of securing highest marks in all
three semesters in aggregate. The Chairman, Department of Wildlife
Sciences will recommend the name of the student to be awarded
fellowship to the Dean, Students’ Welfare for necessary action.

10. SYED ZAHOOR QASIM SCHOLARSHIP

The Scholarship will be awarded to a student of M.Sc (Final) offering


fisheries as a special subject and who has scored highest marks in the
M.Sc (Previous), of Rs. 1000/- per month, tenable for 10 months.

5. DR. AHMAD WASEEM UNDERGRADUATE AWARDS IN
BIOCHEMISTRY

There is a provision of two fellowships to students with poor economic


background @ Rs.500/- per month, tenable for 10 months, entitled, “Dr.
Ahmad Waseem Undergraduate Awards in Bio-Chemistry”, for the
students of B.Sc.(Hons.) Second Year and Third Year (Biochemistry).
For the award of fellowship in B.Sc. Second Year, the student must have
passed B.Sc.(Hons) First Year examination securing a minimum
average of 60% marks, having passed in all papers and have got a
minimum of 80% attendance in the first year. The fellowship may
be continued for the subsequent year for 10 months @ Rs.500/- to
support him/her in the third year, provided the awardee maintains the
academic performance and class attendance in second year. The donor has
also wished that the recipients of the fellowships may magnanimously
return the amount received by them as fellowship once they complete
their education and settle down in a respectable job or other
occupation either in India or abroad. The students shall be asked to
submit an undertaking that he/ she will return the amount or more if
possible as and when he/she finds it convenient without any deadline.

One Scholarship of Rs.1000/- per month, tenable for ten months, to be

to be awarded to a Muslim student, securing highest marks in the First
Year examination of the Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery

of the course during the next 2.5 years, provided the student maintains

34 Shrimati Urmila Mittal Memorial Trust Scholarship (2015-


2020 (SUMMT)

A total of 50 Scholarships of Rs. 2000/- each, will be awarded to


female students of the University pursuing degree courses for the entire
tenure of their courses such as Engineering (Bachelor), Unani Medicine
(Bachelor), Agricultural Science (Post Graduate), Management
(Bachelor & Post Graduate) and Commerce (Bachelor). A total of 50
scholarships of Rs. 1500/- each, will be awarded to female students of
the University pursuing Diploma and Vocational courses for the entire tenure
of their course. The scholarship will be awarded on merit-cum-means
basis as per the terms and conditions laid down by the trust.

11. IDB SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

The Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Jeddah, in pursuance of its


policy of helping students belonging to Muslim communities around the
world, is providing 120 Scholarships to the Muslim Students from India,
for study in recognised Universities/Colleges of India. The Scholarships
are available to meritorious and needy students who want to pursue their
course/study after seeking admission in the First Year of their
professional courses. The Scholarships are confined to the students
of MBBS, Pharmacy, Veterinary, Physiotherapy, Nursing,
Unani & Ayurvedic Medicine, Engg. & Tech., Information Technology,
Computer, Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry, Food Technology,
Business Administration and Accountancy.
The IDB Scholarships are a grant from the IDB to the Islamic Community
concerned and is offered as an interest-free loan to the students, to be
refunded in easy instalments. The Scholarship covers monthly stipends for 12
months of the year, plus three months equivalents for clothing and books.
The IDB pays the tuition and other official expenses related to the
study, and the cost of treatment in Government or University Hospitals.

(a) U.G.C. RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS


U.G.C. Junior Research Fellowship such as Fellowship on any given time
basis (in the subject concerned as also Fellowship in the concerned
Department available in any project like Centre of Advanced Study,
Department of Special Assistance, Departmental Research Support,
Research Project, etc.) will be awarded to those who have/have not
qualified the National Eligibility Test. The value of Fellowship in the

case of candidates qualifying JRF-NET will be Rs.16000/per month
and SRF Rs.18000/- per month while those who did not qualify the
National Eligibility Test (Non NET) and registered for a research
degree in an approved institution will be Rs.8,000/- per month as
JRF to candidate registered purely as Ph.D. student and Rs 5000/ per month
to M.Phil student. The Fellowship will be raised to Rs.9,000/-per
month as SRF, after rigorous evaluation of the work of the scholar,
on completion of period of two years. For JRF, the contingency grant is
Rs.12,000/- per annum in Science programmes and Rs.10,000/- per
annum in Humanities and Social Sciences. For SRF, the contingency
grant is Rs.25,000/- per annum in Science programmes and
Rs.20,000/-per annum in Humanities and Social Sciences.

(b) CSIR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP


Junior and Senior Research Fellowships are awarded by the CSIR
directly to those who qualify CSIR-UGC Joint National
Eligibility Test for 2/3 years, @ Rs.8,000/- and Rs.9,000/- per
month respectively. Contingency grant of Rs.20,000/- per
annum is also admissible to such awardees.

SCHOLARSHIP
Conditions for Scholarship
i) Financial assistance will be given to pursue degree and/or post graduate level
technical and professional courses from a recognized institution.
Maintenance allowance will be credited to the student’s account. The
course fee will be paid by the State Department directly to the institute
concerned.
ii) Students who get admission to a college to pursue technical/professional
courses, on the basis of a competitive examination, will be eligible for
the scholarship.
iii) Students who get admission in technical/professional courses without
facing any competitive examination will also be eligible for scholarship.
However, such students should not have less than 50% marks
at higher secondary/graduation level. Selection of these students will
be done strictly on merit basis.
iv) Continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years will depend on
successful completion of the course during the preceding year.
v) A scholarship holder under this scheme will not avail any other
scholarship/stipend for pursuing the course.
vi) The annual income of the beneficiary/parent or guardian of
beneficiary should not exceed Rs.2.50 lakh from all sources.

(B) CENTRAL GOVERNMENT POST MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP


ELIGIBILITY
Scholarship will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks
or equivalent grade in the previous and final examination and the annual income
of whose parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs.2 lakhs.
Continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years will depend on successful
completion of the course during the preceding year. A scholarship holder under
this scheme will not avail any other scholarship/stipend for pursuing the course.

(C) CENTRAL GOVERNMENT PRE MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP

ELIGIBILITY
Scholarships will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than
50% marks in the previous and final examination and annual income of their

parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs. 1 lakh.

[2] STATE GOVERNMENT

(A) U.P. GOVERNMENT POSTMATRIC AND FEE REIMBURSEMENT

This will be given to students of AMU belonging to OBC/SC/ST/


General/ Minority community of U.P. State, pursuing courses in AMU,
whose parents’ annual income does not exceed Rs.2 Lakhs.

1) Students who get admission in technical/professional courses without


facing any competitive examination will also be eligible for scholarship.
However, such students should not have less than 50% marks at higher
secondary/graduation level. Selection of these students will be done
strictly on merit basis.
2) Continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years will depend on
successful completion of the course during the preceding year.
3) A scholarship holder under this scheme will not avail any other
scholarship/stipend for pursuing the course.

1. Large numbers of gold medals are also given to students of various
faculties and departments. The information on the same may be obtained
from the office of Controller (Examinations and Admissions), AMU.
2. Scholarships/Awards are also available in various Faculties/
Departments/Halls. The information on the same may be obtained
from the offices of the respective Deans/Chairmen/Provosts.
3. A large number of donor scholarships are not availed by students on
account of meager amount. The university intends to club these
scholarships to make them substantial enough to be availed by the
students. The process of merging such Donor Scholarships is in progress.

UNIVERSITY RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP/SCHOLARSHIP

ELIGIBILITY
Candidates with a Master’s Degree in the First or High Second Division in the
subject concerned are eligible to apply for the Scholarships. Candidates
having good academic record at the earlier examinations will be preferred.

Selections
Selection for the award of Scholarships will be made by the Vice-
Chancellor on the recommendation of a Committee constituted for the
purpose. University Research Fellowships/Scholarships shall be awarded at
the following rates:

(a) Rs.1,000/- per month for first two years and Rs.1,150/- per
month thereafter.
(b) The Fellowships shall terminate on completion of viva-voce for a
Ph.D. degree or completion of 5 years from the date of registration for
M.Phil./ Ph.D., whichever is earlier.
(c) University Fellowships in each Department in the Faculties of Arts and
Social Sciences of Rs.1,000/- per month will be awarded to a Ph.D.
candidate holding a First Division Master’s degree, tenable for two years
in the first instance but may be extended for another year.
(d) One University Fellowship is available for the Centre of Strategic Studies
in the Faculty of Social Sciences of Rs.1,000/- per month, tenable
for two years in the first instance and extendable for another year.
(e) Fourteen (14) University Fellowships in Science (including Faculty of
Life Sciences) of Rs.1,000/- per month each will be awarded to Ph.D.
candidates holding a First Division at Master’s degree, tenable for two years
in the first instance but may be extended for another year.
(f) One University Fellowship in Commerce of Rs.1,000/- per
month will be awarded to a Ph.D. candidate holding a First Division
M.Com. degree, tenable for two years in the first instance but
may be extended for another year.
(g) Two University Fellowships in Law of Rs.1,000/- per month each
will be awarded to Ph.D. candidates holding a First or Second Division
L.L.M. degree, tenable for two years in the first instance but
may be extended for another year.
(h) Two University Fellowships in Theology of Rs.1,000/- per month each
will be awarded to Ph.D. candidates holding a First or Second Division
M.Th. degree, tenable for two years in the first instance but may
be extended for another year.
(i) One University Research Scholarship of Rs.1,000/- per month for each
subject in the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences will be awarded to
Ph.D. candidate holding a First or Second division M.A. degree, tenable for
two years in the first instance but may be extended for another year.
(j) One Departmental Research Scholarship in the Centre of Strategic
Studies in the Faculty of Social Science of Rs.1,000/- per month, tenable
for two years in the first instance but may be extended for another year.

(k) One University Research Scholarship of Rs.1,000/- per month for
each subject in the Faculty of Science will be awarded to Ph.D.
candidates holding a First or Second division M.Sc. degree, tenable for
two years in the first instance but may be extended for another year.
(l) One University Research Scholarship of Rs.1,000/- per month in
Operational Research in the Department of Statistics, Faculty of
Science, tenable for two years in the first instance but may be
extended for another year.
(m) One University Research Scholarship of Rs.1,000/- per month in the
Faculty of Commerce will be awarded to a Ph.D. candidate holding a
First or Second division M.Com. degree, tenable for two years in the
first instance but may be extended for another year.
(n) One Departmental Research Scholarship of Rs.1,000/- per month in the
Faculty of Commerce will be awarded to a Ph.D. candidate holding a
First or Second division M.B.A. degree, tenable for two years in
the first instance but may be extended for another year.
(o) One Research Scholarship of Rs.600/- per month, tenable for the
duration of the course, in each language namely, Bengali, Malayalam,
Marathi, Telugu and Tamil (Total 5).
Applications for the Scholarships should be submitted to the Dean of
the Faculty concerned. The above Fellowships are awarded by the CASR of
the Faculty concerned.

RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS IN MEDIEVAL INDIAN HISTORY


(a) Two Senior Research Fellowships of Rs.500/- per month plus
Rs.1,000/-per annum for contingency, tenable for two years but may
be extended for another year.
(b) Two Jr. Research Fellowships of Rs.300/- per month. plus
Rs.1,000/-per annum for contingency, tenable for two years but may
be extended for another year.
(c) Four Research Scholarships of Rs.250/- per month for Ph.D.
students, tenable for two years but may be extended for another year.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR RESEARCH SCHOLARS


A Financial Assistance of Rs.1,000/- for typing and binding the
dissertation will be awarded to the deserving and needy research scholars out of
the annual grant of Rs.75,000/- for “Financial Assistance for Research
Scholars”.
