Evaluation of Educational Technology and Its Application
(LU1)

My Reflection to this is, technology help us a lot it is a positive tool

that educators and student will benefit during the teaching process.
Students has a different intelligence; some student are motivated while
watching they interact as well and also technology helps us a lot to make
our lives easier but we should consider also to limit the use of these to
protect our body and mind.

During the pandemic, the technology helps us a lot and most especially
the students, to continue learning, and some student cannot make it
because some student is not fortunate to have gadgets at home, even
internet connections. Also, it is hard for their parents to teach their
children. After all, some of them did not finish their studies.

The use of zoom, google meet, face book etc. helps us to communicate
with our students, where we can send them their activities and also a
video presentation that they can watch over and over again.

History of Educational Technology (LU2)

We’ve seen the different technology we use then and now. Remember
the face to face conversation, the hand-written letters, the use of beeper
to send our love ones our message and even the use of type writer were a
lot of paper were crumpled because of the wrong spelling or grammar.

As time and years passes by the technology evolves, personal

computers and laptop are invented we can now undo and re-do our work.
Now we are using different online platforms where we can help our
student to engage more in learning.

Educational technology has a big help for both the teacher and the
learners and it also helps the teacher makes learning fun and interactive
with the students. It is very important as a teacher to established learning
to students in a way that they will enjoy and at the same time they will
learn the lesson very well. That’s the main goal of a teacher. The use of
technology in learning also helps students in convenient learning. Like
for example, students on the early age had a hard time in researching but
nowadays, it is easier because of the use of technology.

The Needs for Technology in the Philippines (LU3)

With the ongoing pandemic, we can see how important the technology
in our country it has a big benefit for the teachers and the student as
well. It equips the students for their future careers, they can easily learn
by watching video that their teacher prepares.

Technology is helpful to our daily lives but we must always remember

that technology is just a tool, the teacher is the most important.

The use of technology can help our lives easier but we need to be
responsible as well. There are some applications where you can put on
your power point presentation before you start a discussion, students can
play an interactive game so that they can boost their confidence with
their classmates and get motivated.

Scope of Technology Education (LU4)

There are a lot of changes in our world but we must continue and
engaged with it. We need to change the way we educate the students
unlike before traditional education is a teacher centered where the
teacher is in charge in learning, the student focusing on the teacher while
the teacher is transmitting the information to the students.

Education must be collaborative, student must know how to

collaborate with other student so that they will know how to engaged
experiential learning that is authentic, challenging and holistic.

Learning should be context, it doesn’t mean that when we say student

center where focusing on the student’s ability, teacher should be there to
guide and facilitate and provide guidance as to the skills that needs to
acquire.

The Synergy of Technology with the Basic Learning Theories,
Principles and Practices (LU5)

In Face to face class students can asked questions in real time. They
all learn together and this is called synchronous learning while in
asynchronous learning we use different platforms like zoom, google
meet, and various internet.

In basic learning theories we have behaviorism, teacher shows the

student how should they react and respond to a certain task. While in
cognitivism a learning theory focusing on how information received,
organized, stored, and retrieved by the mind.

For me it is important for student to learn more about behaviorism now

a day because it is the key for educators because it impacts how students
react and behave in the classroom, and suggests that teachers can
directly influence how their students behave and respect each other’s
company.

Theories in Educational Technology (LU6)

How important is technology in education? The COVID-19 pandemic

is quickly demonstrating why online education should be a vital part of
teaching and learning. By integrating technology into existing curricula,
as opposed to using it solely as a crisis-management tool, teachers can
harness online learning as a powerful educational tool. The effective use
of digital learning tools in classrooms can increase student engagement,
help teachers improve their lesson plans, and facilitate personalized
learning. It also helps students build essential 21st-century skills. Virtual
classrooms, video, augmented reality (AR), and other technology tools
can not only make class livelier, they can also create more inclusive
learning environments that foster collaboration and inquisitiveness and
enable teachers to collect data on student performance. Still, it’s
important to note that technology is a tool used in education and not an
end in itself. The promise of educational technology lies in what
educators do with it and how it is used to best support their students’
needs. What is the purpose of educational technology or technology in
education? Using technology, education can be more effectively be
implemented, lessons will be taught more conveniently and classes will
be more appreciated by the students. Technology can be a great tool for
one to fully maximize its use on education. I value the skills I learn from
education and technology. They will be helpful in my way to learning
and discovering more of what education can offer using the advance
technology that we have. This ruling purpose of technology is a great
way to revolutionize our educational system. We may argue that
technology is focused towards education but we cannot deny the fact
that some only see technology as a medium of entertainment. A class
that is advanced with equipment and technological tools that will aid
students to further develop their thinking and researching skills.

Learning Through Design and Technology

This module is about Learning Design and Technology, and I have

adopted a new concept of instructional design theory and gained much
knowledge of instructional design applied to practice in real teaching
activities. There are several points I was impressed, as list below. During
the process of carrying on a concrete design, most of teachers will
design
on the basis of the teaching materials and theoretical of instructional
design. However, we need to noticed that learning design should start
with the problems existed in the past. Before we evolve a solution for
the problem in accordance with theories, we should examine the
problems in the practical teaching methods should combine with specific
objectives, rather than simply show the overall goals. In the process of
curriculum design, we should focus on a specific description of the
objectives.
For example, teachers need to focus on describing a relationship
between the specific target with the students’ domain of knowledge, as
well as what methods and procedures designed to achieve this goal.
Relative to each specific objective, students’ domain knowledge are
different, so that we can not only talked about it in general terms and
didn't go into details. Based on the specific objectives, we need to find
out differences between existing knowledge of students and objective,
and design different difficulties of learning activities, finally achieve the
aim. Instructional design must be tried or tested by experience. We need
to conduct teachers’ self-evaluation and students’ assessment after class.
Involve the activities of continuous improvement can meet the needs of
teaching. It reminds me that we often informed learning effect by ways
of examination results of student and not on our own reflections on the
learning design. So, under the learner-oriented constructivism
environment, instructional design needed to include these factors by
creating meaningful situations is beneficial to students’ knowledge self-
construction. Appropriate learning environment can promote learners'
motivation of learning, so we want to create authentic learning
environment which is related to the theme of learning, to achieve better
learning results. We have to provide abundance of information and
resources base on the current learning subject. Consolidation of
resources is important. In the computer-based learning environment,
how to integrate with a series of multimedia, like verbal and

visual media, to bring students active and dynamic interaction is deserve

our serious consideration. Learner analysis is the starting point for
instructional design. During comprehensive analysis of learners,
including analysis of learning ability, motivation, and learner's different
features, we can identify practical learning objectives. Teachers should
provide students more chance for collaboration, communication,
collision of thinking, to learn from each other, build the communities of
learning and deepen students' knowledge construction. On the basis of
knowledge construction, students can cultivate their innovative spirit and
practical ability through explore learning to solving practical problems.
Generally speaking, this course gives me a good training opportunity to
reflect us
unique perspective through responsible for carrying a dual role, namely
teacher and student.

Teaching and Learning Framework for Integrating Technology in
the Curriculum Including the Best Practices in Maximizing the
Learning through Information and Communication Technology
(LU 8)

Improving the quality of education and training is a critical

issue, particularly at a time of educational expansion. ICTs can enhance
the quality of education in several ways: by increasing learner
motivation and engagement, by facilitating the acquisition of basic
skills, and by enhancing teacher training. ICTs are also transformational
tools which, when used appropriately, can promote the shift to a learner-
centered environment. Motivating to learn. ICTs such as videos,
television and multimedia computer software that combine text, sound,
and colorful, moving images can be used to provide challenging and
authentic content that will engage the student in the learning process.
Interactive radio likewise makes use of sound effects, songs,
dramatizations, comic skits, and other performance conventions to
compel the students to listen and become involved in the lessons being
delivered. More so than any other type of ICT, networked computers
with Internet connectivity can increase learner motivation as it combines
the media richness and interactivity of other ICTs with the opportunity
to connect with real people and to participate in real world events.
Facilitating the acquisition of basic skills. The transmission of basic
skills and concepts that are the foundation of higher order thinking skills
and creativity can be facilitated by ICTs through drill and practice.
Educational television programs such as Sesame Street use repetition
and reinforcement to teach the alphabet, numbers, colors, shapes and
other basic concepts. Most of the early uses of computers were for
computer-based learning (also called computer-assisted instruction) that
focused on mastery of skills and content through repetition and
reinforcement.

Design and Development of Technology Suggested Instructional
Plans devices for the laboratory staff (LU9)

Through the years, the classroom teacher has been regarded as

the primary and central element in the teaching-learning situation.
Today, however, an ever-increasing prominence, as a second significant
factor, is assigned the materials center or curriculum laboratory. This
escalating visibility for the curriculum laboratory is in recognition of the
rapidly increasing supply of teacher aids of all kinds. These include
many machines, devices programmed learning materials, self-instruction
units, state adopted textbooks, manuals for teachers all designed to
facilitate the teaching-learning process. Even though there is an
increasing importance of the curriculum laboratory, there is a paucity of
objective information assembled on the organization, function, and
content of these instructional centers. The investigation which is
reported in this study represents a serious effort of one professional
worker to remedy this situation. She has
succeeded admirably in her purpose and, in addition, has enhanced
greatly the document by including a manual designed to assist the
professional worker in the preparation of book and non-book materials
for use in such centers.

Technology in the Constructivist Learning Environment (LU10)

Knowledge is temporary, this means that knowledge is

contextual. knowledge is formed from our understandings and
perceptions of the world, and because what we understand is constantly
evolving, this makes knowledge ever-changing, and not permanent.
Student’s form knowledge based off their self-concept. And as children
develop and experience new things, their self-concept begins to change,
this is why knowledge tends to only stay with students for a certain
amount of time.
Understanding that knowledge is temporary, I will do the best of my
ability to build off the student’s knowledge, so they are able to form
deep understandings that student’s will be able to store in their long-term
memory, rather than their short-term memory. I can do this by taking a
look where my students are developmentally, in terms of physical,
emotional, social, and cognitive development, and providing content that
challenges the student, yet is not too difficult for them. I can get an idea
of where my students’ development is at through the means of
observation and pre-assessment. When I have some idea of where my
students are at developmentally, I can begin instruction. At the
beginning of the year, I can start with simple and basic concepts,
possibly going over what the student’s learned in the previous year, and
by the end of the year.

In
Technology and Student Assessment

I struggle with formative assessment in an online

environment. To me, formative assessment is more than just giving
quizzes, it is something we do frequently to gather data on student
progress and use that to adjust instruction. I do not like include
formative assessment in the gradebook as something that impacts a
student’s grade since it is a tool for me to use to better understand how I
can address student learning needs. More importantly for me to address
individual student weaknesses and how I can modify the learning
environment to help that student. Online instruction is not as flexible as
face to face. With face to face instruction I am able to immediately use
the information from what students are doing in class to adjust
immediately. As we are doing an activity or lesson and students seem
confused or need supporting skills, I can make those adjustments on the
fly. In an online environment the students are probably not working
synchronously with me and I am reacting to how students did after the
fact, rather than being able to modify while the student is still in the
module. Also, changes I make tend to be more global to the design of
the online course rather than individual modifications and adjustments.
Emailing students or leaving comments in the online environment giving
a student feedback and recommendations based on how they do on a
formative assessment task is useful, but still limiting. I am unable to see
how the student is responding to the instruction as they are interacting
with it, thus when frustrations arise I cannot make those immediate
adjustments. It is my experience that when a student completes a large
amount of work and then receives feedback with corrections they are not
typically motivated to go back and correct or redo not only the
assessment but the instruction. Technology can help support students
receiving immediate feedback, but is limited. I am confident that
technology and online learning paradigms will continue to improve so
that the online/blended environment will be more responsive, have more
