2022 Super Typhoon Luzon and Mindanao Super Typhoon Karding (also
(Karding) known as Noru worldwide) devas-
tated Central Luzon in the latter
week of September 2022. Western
Visayas, as well as Northern and
Southern Luzon, were impacted.
The Department of Agriculture
(DA) said in a report on Monday,
October 3, that the cost of agricul-
tural damage caused by Karding
has reached P3.12 billion.
From 170,762 hectares of cropland
in the Cordillera Administrative
Region, Ilocos Region, Cagayan
Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon,
Bicol, and Western Visayas, a total
of 158,117 metric tons (MT) of
production were lost. Rice, corn,
cassava, abaca, high-value crops,
livestock, poultry, and fisheries are
among those affected. Damage esti-
mates for rice alone totaled P2.05
billion, with a production loss of
134,205 MT, or 0.66% of the
yearly target volume of 20.25 mil-
lion MT.
At least 108,594 farmers and fisher-
men were affected, according to the
DA.

2022 Landslide Banaue, Ifugao On 7 July 2022, at around 4:45 PM,
a flash flood occurred caused by
heavy rains accompanied by strong
winds. It resulted to the loss of
properties, housing, agricultural
crops, and support facilities as well
as infrastructure in the Municipality
of Banaue.
