Popular is words means from the Latin word populāris


“pertaining to all or most of the people, belonging to or
used by the common people”.
Literature is defined as books and other written works,
especially those considered to have creative or artistic
merit or lasting value.
It the term derives from Latin literature/litteratura that
means "writing formed with letters," from litera/littera
"letter".
WHAT IS POPULAR
LITERATURE?
POPULAR LITERATURE INCLUDES THOSE WRITINGS INTENDED FOR
THE MASSES AND THOSE THAT FIND FAVOR WITH LARGE AUDIENCES.
AN ARTISTIC FORM OF LITERATURE THAT PEOPLE ENJOY AND THAT
IT IS DESIGNED PRIMARILY TO ENTERTAIN.
THIS LITERATURE PROVIDES MEANING FOR THE READERS AND IS
MORE CONCERNED WITH PLOT THAN CHARACTERS.
ALSO KNOWN AS POPULAR FICTION OR GENRE FICTION.
MOST COMMON GENRES OF POPULAR LIERRATURE ARE ROMANCE,
MYSTERY, FANTASY OR SCIENCE FICTIONS, AND ETC.

begins in the 19th century up to 20th century - a
time when wider literacy and cheaper printing make
books available to middle-and-lower-class readers.

Popular literature today is produced either to be


read by a literate audience or to be enacted on
television or in the cinema; it is produced by writers
who are members, however lowly, of an elite corps of
professional literates.

POPULAR
LITERATURE Popular literature mostly created intended for the
masses and those that find favor with large audiences
to entertain the readers hence most of the writings
under this literature are easy to understand and no
complexity in terms of word used.
Popular literature is a writing which has shown wide
and continued acceptance, measured by sales,
frequent imitation, adaptation to other cultural forms
and general commercial success.
Adherence to a formula: Writers of genre/popular
fiction stick to formulas that readers expect. From one APPEAL OF
work to the next, plots follow a similar trajectory and POPULAR
characters possess certain shared traits and LITERATURE
motivations.
Focus on plot: Stories in genre/popular fiction are plot
driven. Characters still play a significant role, but the
writer’s emphasis is more on driving the plot forward
through events and less on the meticulous
development of characters.
Readability: Genre/popular fiction is generally easy to
read and understand. Writers utilize accessible
language and concepts, and they construct plots and
characters for maximum entertainment and reader
engagement.

LITERATURE The social functions of popular literature are that
allows reader to be experience social situations that
the literary pieces had. It mirrors the situations that the
society face that affects the past and influences the
present times. Thus, popular literature is relatable and
engaging literary pieces that may catch the attention
of children and adults.
It evolves around the life of Rick Grimes, a
small-town police officer and his family, and
a number of other survivors who have
banded together in order to survive after
the world is overrun with zombies. It follows
a group of survivors, led by former police
officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a
safe and secure home. As the world overrun
by the dead takes its toll on the survivors,
their interpersonal conflicts present a
greater danger to their continuing survival
than the walkers that roam the country.
WALKING DEAD (COMIC BOOK)
The Walking Dead was a monthly black-and-
white American comic that started in 2003, and
was created and written by Robert Kirkman with
artist Tony Moore.
It already has 32 volumes that is still running
famous at recent times.
Volume 1: Days Gone Bye. This volume begins
the story of Rick Grimes, a sheriff's deputy from
Kentucky, who is wounded in action and emerges
from a coma to find the world plagued by the
undead.
Volume 32: Rest In Peace is the thirty-second and
final volume of Image Comics' The Walking Dead.
