assignment or activity meets the skill

1.1 Express ideas clearly, in written,

multimodal, and oral communication, * I met this skill in the course titled, Principles of
Finance, where I created both a PowerPoint and
considering purpose, audience, and format. Microsoft Word document as my final project.
 The assignment takes into account the
audience, Verizon, and expresses my ideas
and suggestions in a clear format that follows
along the purpose of the assignment, proving
the success of Verizon. To do this, I utilized
data from their financial statements.
 Both parts of the project also clearly
communicated how they could increase their
profits through gaining a larger customer
base.
1.2 Analyze issues, make decisions, and
address problems using critical thinking. * I met this skill clearly and thoroughly through my
Social Justice letter, which I wrote in the Senior
Integrative Seminar course.
 I completed a thorough and deep analysis of
the issue of hormones being used on food-
producing animals.
 I had to decide who to write my letter to in
order to be able to produce the result of
having my social justice issue being
examined and, ideally, for the company to
take a deeper look into the issue.
 Additionally, I had to use critical thinking to
find a solution to the problem that I could
propose to the company I chose in order to
increase the likelihood that they would invest
time into the issue and genuinely be more
likely to take on the issue as one of their
own. That solution was further testing on the
effect the hormones have on humans based
on a personal experience.
1.3 Demonstrate leadership, including
negotiation, relational, consensus-building, * I do not believe that I have been given the
opportunity through my education at this time to
and teamwork skills. meet this skill.
 Throughout my time at Seton Hill, I did not
play the role of a leader and did not work in
teams for any of my course assignments.
1.4 Communicate and express ideas
through the arts. * I believe at this time that I have partially succeeded
in the use of the arts as a means of expressing my
ideas.
 While I am not an “art” type of person in a
traditional sense, my Discussion #3
Responses to Environmental Justice and
Care paper asked me to use some of my
creative writing skills in order to imagine a
discussion with the Pope. Through this
imagined discussion, I completed the letter
as if we were having a genuine conversation,
more so than as a letter.
1.5 Integrate appropriate technologies to
solve problems, complete tasks, and * I feel I have partially met this skill because

accomplish goals.  I have used several Microsoft office
software such as PowerPoint, Excel, and
Word. By using these technologies, I have
been able to successfully grow my skills in
each of these formats of presentations, and
have used them to successfully complete all
tasks, to begin to solve problems through
presentations, and to complete all tasks as
they have been assigned to me.

2. Historical, Cultural, and Global Awareness

2.1 Relate effectively across various

linguistic and cultural settings. * I met this skill by the completion of my assignment,
Jesus and Other Religions, in the Jesus course.
 This assignment shows how other religions
view Jesus. Christians believe in Jesus and
God as do the Jews; however, Hindus
believe in all Gods.
 In addition, The Qur’an discusses that Mary
in included in the Trinity by Christians,
however, the Christian Theology does not
include Mary in the Trinity.
 This assignment shows various cultural
settings religiously, and also spans religions
that worship in various languages.
2.2 Use time, place, and social change as
frameworks for analyzing social * I feel as though I have not been given the opportunity
to focus on some of these areas, but have been given
developments from multiple disciplinary the opportunity to focus on the social change aspect
perspectives. of this target.
 In the Social Justice letter, the focus was on
encouraging the act of social change in the
realm of science and technology, focusing on
increasing testing to support health and well-
being. As well, the Discussion #3 Responses
to Environmental Justice and Care paper
focused on growth in the same two areas.
I do not, however, feel that I have used developments
from multiple disciplinary perspectives throughout
my time at Seton Hill.
2.3 Evaluate current and historical events
through the lens of spirituality and global * I wrote a discussion involving the environment and
my topic was water pollution and loss of
social justice. biodiversity.
 Both topics have been going on for decades.
I met this skill through this assignment,
which took place during the course Senior
Integrative Seminar, because it involved my
viewpoint on the environment issue that
continues today.
 It also involves global social justice because
water pollution and the loss of biodiversity
affects all of us.
2.4 Critique privilege and oppression from
the perspective of diverse identities. * I do not believe that I have been given the
opportunity through my education at this time to
meet this skill.
 I do not feel my assignments and time at
Seton Hill involved using the perspective of
diverse identities.
 I feel as a result of having to take all my
courses online in order to balance learning
with my career and livelihood, I did not
interact with other students and that is part of
the reason I have not learned the perspectives
of diverse identities.

3. Multiple Modes of Inquiry

3.1 Generate, analyze, and interpret

numerical data. * My project for Financial Statement Analysis
completes this skill.
 I researched previous financial statements of
Best Buy and worked backwards to recreate
them. By recreating the financial statements,
I was able to calculate very important ratios,
which is shown in the Excel document
artifact.
 In my word document artifact, I conclude
and predict that Best Buy will continue to be
successful based on the financial statements
and ratio calculations.
 I had to generate financial statements,
analyze them with ratios, and then interpret
the future of Best Buy all based on numerical
data.
3.2 Locate, analyze, evaluate, and organize,
primary and secondary sources, including * I believe that I have partially met this skill at this

expressive media, to comprehend the  I have worked to synthesize information of
significance of an issue or an event. both primary and secondary source
information in order to comprehend the
significance of an issue at a deeper level.
 I have written several papers throughout my
time at Seton Hill, and I had to use a variety
of sources to meet the guidelines and
synthesized the information in order to best
display information as well as my point of
view on topics.
3.3 Interpret quantitative and qualitative
information to formulate positions to reach * I sully met this target. One example was my Data
Analytics project which was about Giant Pandas.
conclusions or to present a logical argument.  My project focused on the fact that the Giant
Panda species us on the vulnerable list and
not the endangered species list.
 My goal was to create a strategy to help
increase the Giant Panda species in captivity
and the wild to remove them from the
vulnerable list.
 I used several statistics and created charts to
form my argument and business strategy.
3.4 Demonstrate respect for multiple ideas
and worldviews. * I believe that at this time I have partially met this
skill.
 There were several discussions in courses
amongst my fellow classmates and myself.
In these discussions, we all shared our ideas
and viewpoints on different subjects.
 I was and always respectful of other’s
viewpoints and ideas, reading to understand
and not to validate. Many times, they made
great points and convinced me to evaluate
my viewpoint as a result of their convincing
arguments.

4.1 Employ ethical decision-making grounded
in philosophical inquiry. * At this time, I feel that I have partially met this skill.
 I usually make decisions ethically and think
of the consequences that could happen due to
the decision I make prior to making choices.
I analyze the actions as a whole, prior to
making them.
 I do not feel that the decisions I make are
grounded in philosophical inquiry.
4.2 Apply Catholic social teaching to the
analysis of contemporary social issues. * I feel as though I have mastered this skill in my
vocation essay for Senior Integrative Seminar
 I discuss my vocation being to spread God’s
word, love, and miracles. It is my right to
believe in God and what he is capable of.
 Connecting with this, it is my responsibility
to spread his word, love, and miracles in an
attempt to stop some of the evil in the world.
4.3 Explain the value of diverse spiritual and
religious perspectives. * At this time, I feel as though I have mastered this
skill through my assignment on being a follower of
Jesus, titled Jesus Week 7 (artifact)
 The assignment discusses how one is to pray
according to the Gospel of Matthew. I use
this to show how both Cardinal Bernadine
and Immacule seek Jesus and follow him
even through the tragedies they have been
through.
 Even though they went through two
completely different situations, they were
similar in some ways- and they found Jesus
in their own way which proves diverse
spiritual and religious perspectives.
4.4 Integrate the action of charity with the
virtue of justice * At this time, I feel that I have partially met this skill.
 I help my father and stepmom with a charity
that they are forming into a non-profit entity.
It is called Holy Hot Dogs. We go to low-
income communities with a food truck to
hand out hot dogs, drinks, and donated items
(clothes, shoes, toys, etc.). The charity is
handing out this stuff and the justice is
knowing that we are helping low-income
communities.
 I know there is a great deal more I can do to
continue my work and personal growth with
virtue of justice.
4.5 Exercise responsible freedom and civic
engagement based on an informed value * At this time, I feel that I have partially met this skill.
 I am active in the church. Holy Hot dogs run
system. by my father and step-mom got started
through the church and I volunteer to help
and enjoy helping other communities and
individuals who do not have much.
 In addition, my father, stepmom, and I put
together money this year to provide items for
both Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners to
the individuals in the low-income
communities.
 My family also has participated in an “adopt
a family” for the holidays, dropping off food
baskets and gifts for families in local towns,
calling and telling them to “check their
porch, a friend has made a special delivery
for the family.”

5.1 Model ethical behavior, responsible

freedom, and engaged citizenship. * At this time, I have met this target through various
assignments. My assignment for Jesus (week 6)
artifact meets this skill.
 I discuss how Keller talks about a
relationship with God and a problem with
sin. Keller discusses how other religions
speak of seeking salvation is different when
compared to the way described in the gospel
of Jesus. Keller also discusses the concept
of forgiveness in his Story of the Cross.
 Sin and forgiveness go hand in hand
because we commit sin then ask God for
forgiveness.
 This is an ethical behavior. It is my
responsible freedom to try to be a good
person and not commit sin, but if/when I do
to know to ask God’s forgiveness which
shows I am taking accountability for my
actions.
 Engaged citizenship takes place when I
think before my actions to make sure others
will not be affected. It all plays hand in
hand, in my opinion.
5.2 Demonstrate accountability, effective
work habits, and the ability to assess areas * My final project for Forensic Accounting meets this
skill.

societal growth. back up my accountability on my thoughts
and questions in my conclusions. It also
forced me to have effective work habits by
being thorough with the data to decide if
more information would be needed and
what to share with others.
 I feel the assignment helped me to grow
professionally and to make sure to pay
attention to small details that could be easily
missed.
5.3 Identify and articulate skills, strengths,
knowledge, and experiences relevant to one’s * At this time, I feel that I have partially met this skill.
 I was taught different skills, strengths, and
career goals. knowledge in order to reach my goal of
being a forensic accountant one day.
 I did not, however, experience anything that
would show me what it would be like to be
a forensic accountant.
5.4 Complete experiential learning to pursue
professional opportunities. * I do not believe that I have been given the
opportunity through my education at this time to
meet this skill.
 I was an online student and did not have in-
person courses. The courses were fast
paced, and I feel I did not get to interact
with my professors the way a student is able
to in an in-person class.
 There were few assignments where I could
share my life experiences and I would get
feedback from professors that shared their
experiences.
