Brief Description: The students would have previously learned about phonics, graphemes,
authors devices, and the anglo-saxon and latin layers. The students would firstly read the book
“Frindle '' by Andrew Clements, as a group, and once the book is finished, we would have a
small group discussion using prompt questions for the book. Following the closure of the book, I
would present the first lesson. The first lesson is a worksheet called “Is it Real or Fake?” (see
appendix A) and the children are given 15 words to choose from, having only 8 real words
chosen from the book. They must find the real words, write them down, and look through a
dictionary to get their definitions. Once this is completed, they will choose one fake word and
give it their own creative and original definition. The next lesson in the unit is called “Pseudo
Stories” (see appendix B) in which the students will be asked to write a story or script
incorporating their new word at least three times in the text. Once this is completed, they will
exchange their story with a partner, read their partner’s story, and give them two positive
comments and one suggestion for their story. Lastly, they will end with an oral lesson called
“The Murban Dictionary” in which the students will each have a turn to present their story or
script to the class. After each student presents their story, the other students will have 1 minute to
guess the definition of their new word
The students will discuss and express different traditions, belongings, and values that show their
religion and its various forms of diversity. This unit will focus on the variety of religions and
how they can be followed between each individual. It will also focus on diversity and treating
everyone equally with respect because everyone is different.
