PM and criteria

Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is a Pakistani politician and businessman who is currently serving
as the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan, in office since 11 April 2022. He is the current president of
the Pakistan Muslim League.

The Constitution of Pakistan requires that the prime minister be a member of the National Assembly.

 As well as this, one must:

 be a citizen of Pakistan.
 be a Muslim
 be above 25 years of age
 be able to prove good conduct of character and be not commonly known to violate Islamic
injunctions
 have adequate knowledge of Islamic teachings and practice obligatory duties prescribed by
Islam, as well as abstaining from major sins
 have not, after the establishment of Pakistan, worked against the integrity of the country or
opposed the ideology of Pakistan.[51]

Criteria
 (a)    he is a citizen of Pakistan;

 (b)     he is, in the case of the National Assembly, not less than twenty-five years of age and is
enrolled as a voter in any electoral roll in—

         (i)     any part of Pakistan, for election to a general seat or a seat reserved for non-Muslims;
and
         (ii)     any area in a Province from which she seeks membership for election to a seat reserved
for women.

 (c)    he is, in the case of the Senate, not less than thirty years of age and is enrolled as a voter in
any area in a Province or, as the case may be, the Federal Capital, from where he seeks
membership;

(d)    he is of good character and is not commonly known as one who violates Islamic Injunctions;

 (e)     he has adequate knowledge of Islamic teachings and practices obligatory duties prescribed by
Islam as well as abstains from major sins;

 (f)    he is sagacious, righteous, non-profligate, honest and ameen, there being no declaration to the
contrary by a court of law; and

 (g)    he has not, after the establishment of Pakistan, worked against the integrity of the country or
opposed the ideology of Pakistan.

The disqualifications specified in paragraphs (d) and (e) shall not apply to a person who is a non-
Muslim, but such a person shall have good moral reputation.

The Senate has 104 members who serve six-year terms which are alternated so that half the
senators are up for re-election by the electoral college every three years. The National

Neighbouring states and areas


Pakistan is bounded by Iran to the west, Afghanistan to the northwest and north, China to
the northeast, and India to the east and southeast. The coast of the Arabian Sea forms its
southern border.

Four Indian states share a border with Pakistan: Punjab (547 km), Rajasthan (1,035 km),
Gujarat (512 km) and Jammu & Kashmir (1,216 km), with a combined shared border of 3,310
km.
