The Effect of Online Learning of Students in the Philippines

It’s been a year since the world has been shaken as the deadly virus arrives.

Everyday, many lives have been taken and turned to ashes. According to Worldometer

(2021), As of April 28, 2021, approximately 149 million people have been infected and

over three million have died. In the Philippines, this translates into almost 1 million is

infected and 16,000 deaths has confirmed. To eliminate and control this treat of increasing

number of infected people of COVID-19 virus, the government of the Philippines drive an

action to disseminate quarantine protocols. In this situation of new normal, the distinction

of the new normal, including the educational system has seemingly change its setting. The

current situation of Educational System has been shift into new normal ways through

modernized online learning.

In this new normal setting of educational system through conducting online

classes it comprises and pertain by the advance digital education and virtual classroom.

Thus, this new platforms of educational learning, students and teachers can only meet and

take classes through virtual synchronous meetings and session. As a result, the education

has very big changes, with the distinctive advancement of online learning platforms,

wherein the teaching instruction is ventured by the supervision on the digital online

learning platforms.
Unfortunately, many educators including teachers and students are really

stiffened to this new kind of educational learning platform because of the problems of slow

internet connectivity in the Philippines. Also, due to deprivation, not all families have the

resources to get the required equipment for online learning. These families simply cannot

adjust to the requirements for online schooling and will otherwise be left behind or forced

to find other methods of schooling for their children. However, the major problem

currently for learners is just how difficult online learning and schooling is compared to

actual classes. Various learners complained that they cannot cope up with kind of current

learning, as their emphasis has veered around to finalizing homework on a day-to-day

basis.

The Philippines is on the economic and socio-cultural boat and are now

confronting the COVID-19 pandemic that challenges the educational system. What appears

with these dilemmas, nonetheless, this is the alternative to develop the strategy that we

reckon on this education and enforce continual and bearable modifications that will

enhance the quality of our educational systems. However, the Philippines has to set of

protocols and guidelines based on an innovative educational framework. This employs a

comprehensive and factual assessment of the country’s readiness to offer learning

programs that mandate further than the conventional regulations. As our Nation ventures

into a new mode of learning, various of components necessity to be evaluated. This


includes teacher capability, catastrophe and context of the student, and comprehension of

the learning environment.
