News Anchor 2 (Sison): Now we are back. You are still tuned in to THE VOICE. Definition of
Communication. Here is John Daniel Baloloy for the details. (effects)
Field Reporter 1 (Baloloy): Before we discuss our main topic, what is communication all about?
According to the dictionary communication is all about imparting or exchanging information or
news and also communication means of sending or receiving information, such as phone lines or
computers. Communication is usually defined as the transmission of information. The term can
also refer just to the message communicated or to the field of inquiry studying such transmissions.
Communication serves five major purposes: to inform, to express feelings, to imagine, to
influence, and to meet social expectations. Each of these purposes is reflected in a form of
communication. This is John Daniel Baloloy reporting, upholding nothing but the truth. (effects)

News Anchor 1 (Ybañez): Distinction of Intrapersonal and Interpersonal Communication. Karen

Magarro has this report. (effects)
Field Reporter 2 (Magarro): We have two kinds of communication which is intrapersonal and
interpersonal communication. So when we say intrapersonal it is all about communicating with
one self it is something that exists within one person, an example of intrapersonal is someone
having awareness of how they affect the world around them, existing or occurring within one
person's mind of self. So the next one is interpersonal. When we say interpersonal it is all about
the process of exchange of information, ideas, and feelings between two or more people through
verbal and non-verbal methods, intrapersonal communication can take many forms, for example
it can be verbal (speaking face to face or written in a letter or an email) or it can be non-verbal for
instance facial expression and body language. So that is the meaning of intrapersonal and
interpersonal communication. This is Karen Magarro reporting, upholding nothing but the truth.

News Anchor 2 (Sison): The Socio-Psychological Tradition, the main topic for today's discussion.
Here is Andrei James D. Ybañez for further details. (effects)
Field Reporter 3 (Ybañez): In this tradition, it sees the communication as interpersonal
interaction. And just like what Ms. Magarro mentioned a while ago that interpersonal interaction
is a communication process that involves the exchange of information, feelings and meaning by
means of verbal and non-verbal messages, between two or more persons. This tradition examines
the relationship between our perceptions, meanings, standards, and roles in interpersonal
communication. The focus in the socio-psychological tradition is on the cognitive and behavioral
traits of a person. Additionally, it emphasizes interaction patterns over individual traits. Moreover,
the goal of the scholars in this tradition is to provide light on how humans take in information. As
researchers become aware of the influence that other people may have on others and how messages
can affect the mind, they also pay attention to persuasion and attitude change. This is Andrei James
D. Ybañez reporting, upholding nothing but the truth. (effects)

News Anchor 2 (Sison): This tradition can be divided into three branches: the behavioral,
cognitive, and biological.
News Anchor 1 (Ybañez): For further information in this news, here's Michaela Leonardo, Ivy
Sison, and Dale Ogorida. (effects)

Field Reporter 4 (Leonardo): Behavioral. The theorists in this branch focus on how people
behave when they are in actual communication. The way they act when they are communicating
with someone, how they interact with others. For example, if we are talking to someone we are
interested in, we tend to smile and talk a lot to show our interest with that person. Additional
information, when certain behavior is being praised, tends to be repeated and psychologists call it
"learning", and if the behavior is unlikeable they call it "unlearned." To sum it all up, this branch
focuses on BEHAVIOR of people when they are communicating and interacting with others. This
is Michaela Leonardo reporting, upholding nothing but the truth. (effects)

Field Reporter 5 (Sison): In the cognitive branch it will deal with the thoughts of a person who
are involved in a communication, that person will start to acquire information and that information
will be processed and interpreted and the information that is already interpreted can now influence
the behavioral response of a person in the communication situation. In short, what we do in a
communication depends more on our stimulus response but also depends on our mental operation
in managing and interpreting information. This is Ivy Sison reporting, upholding nothing but the
truth. (effects)

Field Reporter 6 (Ogorida): Biological. Biological is the effect of brain, and structure,
neurochemistry, and genetic factors that play a very important role in explaining human behavior.
In this theory, whatever we show or behave today is what we inherited from our parents. For
example, if your mother is a shy person, it is not unlikely that you will also have this trait because
both of you have the same genetics. This is Dale Ogorida reporting, upholding nothing but the
truth. (effects)
