4: Philippine as Democracy
● Conduct of Regular,
Fair, and Free Elections ✓ For the conduct of regular, fair,
and free elections, it is also
slightly evident. Even though
every elections is free and
regular, it is undeniable that it is
not fair due to some
representatives that buys vote or
gives money to people to vote
for them even though the money
that they’re handing to others
was also the money of the
citizens or of the country.
● Rule of Law
✓ In terms of the rule of law, it is
very evident because people are
indeed protected, upheld, and
promoted by the rule of law and
which also means that every
people is equal when voting and
no one is above the law.
● Broad Citizenship
Engagement ✓ For the broad citizenship
engagement, it is slightly
evident for the reason that even
though every people has their

● Public Accountability
✓ Public accountability is the
responsibility of the nation to
elect and/or remove a ruling
authority if needed so in order to
aim for the betterment of a
country. For this feature, it is
evident since every citizen cares
for their own country with their
different beliefs on how it can
be run by their elected
representative.

1. What is the general theme or your over-all observation of the democratic practices in the
Philippines?
- Based on my observation, to generalize this rating, I could say that most of the features gained
three slightly evident, while one for each evident and very evident. The “3” ratings showed that
when it comes to the democratic practices here in the Philippines, it does not result to either
good/advantage/pro or bad/disadvantages/cons effect to the country. Meaning, the democratic
practices of the Filipinos based on my observation is indeed balance.
2. How did you feel after assessing your observations? Are you happy and satisfied with your
assessment? Why? Why not?
- This activity is interesting as it made myself think critically on some issues that everyone needs
to ponder on especially when it comes to the election or any matters that involves with the future
of our country. So, after figuring out the result, it gave me a sense of knowledge and it also
helped me with my critical thinking skills that can be used on other problems.
3. As a student, what can you do to improve or exercising democratic practices or make our country
better in practicing democracy?
- As a student, the best and most possible way in order to help to make our country better is to
always promote the right way of voting. Since everyone of legal age can vote, there is a
higher chance that most of the people would just vote the people they think know by the

name instead of the projects that they did or their history. Voting wisely would reduce the
possibility of our country from going downfall and voting for the right person would mean
that there is a higher chance for our country to rise than fall.
