Activity 1: Can you share your thoughts?

DIRECTIONS: Answer the following questions based on your own opinion. Each item is
equivalent to five (5) points. You will be given two (2) points for your opinion and one (1) point
for each supporting detail. Give three supporting details to support your opinion.
1. As a student, what is the best thing to do to preserve the regional traditions?
Opinion: In my own ways of preserving the regional traditions, it is for the best that we must
practice it ourselves then pass down our knowledge in any ways like teaching it manually or
posting it on social media.
Supporting Details:
a. In terms of preserving it through self-practice, it may result for us to not just pass it to
others but it can also help us gain insights and knowledge in any field of art in the
regional traditions. Learning it yourself may also benefits you in a way that you can try
new things specially traditions.
b. Showing appreciation means valuing the matter that deserves to be recognized. It is
important that we also teach other regarding this field because it shows our
appreciation and effort of the regional traditions that our ancestors passed down to us.
c. When it comes to passing it down, there are two ways that I thought of. Teaching it
manually or posting it on social media. Anything works depending if people are
passionate to learn it but it is most effective to teach it personally. Because the learners
will be able to learn it thoroughly without having a hard time which can cause them to
quit once they do, that’s why it’s important to teach it personally.

2. In your own opinion, do we need to promote our traditional arts? Why or Why not?
Opinion: Of course, we definitely need to promote our traditional arts because it is what makes
us who we are. Those traditional arts are making us get recognized for our creativity and
passion.
Supporting Details:
a. If our traditional arts would die or be forgotten, we would just be known as Filipinos
without the appreciation of arts. Since we are more focused on modernized talents or
skills which makes us forget our traditional art, there’s a chance that our culture and
tradition would die too.
b. Traditional arts is where we began before being introduced to contemporary arts. If we
won’t promote it, it’s like we’re neglecting our past that made us who we are and we
have for today’s generation.
c. Promoting traditional arts is the same as showing appreciation to the people or to
indigenous people who practices those arts which means if we will promote what they
are doing, it can also give them the recognition that they truly deserve for letting us see
the old and local way of doing art.
