PLURALISM
PLURALISM
A. General Definition
refers to a society, system of government, or organization that has different groups that
keep their identities while existing with other groups or a more dominant group.
➢ at the core of the principle of "pluralism" is the idea of "respect for diversity"
You know how the plural form of a word means there's more than one of something? Similarly,
pluralistic ideas are about embracing more than one group of people, ideas, or religions.
Pluralistic ideas are part of a philosophy known as pluralism.
B. Concept in society
A pluralistic society is a diverse one, where the people in it believe all kinds of different
things and tolerate each other's beliefs even when they don't match their own. The
diversity of different ideas OR people must be respected or at least recognized.
ano ang kinikilala at tatanggapin ng bawat isa which is about politics- kasama dito kung
ano mang interest, convictions, lifestyle, philosophies, at political view ng isang tao.
D. Concept in democracy
is one in which democratic elections are held and separation of powers exists, so that no
one person or political party has too much control. (power to no one).
A pluralist democracy describes a political system in which there is more than one center
of power.
E. Concept in education
It is an educational concept which aims at the development of students with a so-called
`pluralistic attitude'.
a way of thinking about schooling that sees the government as the funder of many
different approaches to schooling, rather than a one-size-fits-all provider.
