Chapter 2

In carrying out this task, we conducted interview activities twice, by visiting the same
place, namely Kota Tua, West Jakarta. The first trial is Tuesday, November 1, 2022,
and the second is Sunday, November 6, 2022.

PART 1 : Tuesday, November 1, 2022

1. Trip to Old Town (Kota tua)

In this first experiment, we did it after school, Tuesday, November 1, 2022. On
this trip, we did not purely go in a group, because there was Harlan who
accompanied and who would record the interview there. Initially, everyone
gathered at his house Intan in Pinang Ranti to take the Transjakarta bus because
his house was the closest to the terminal. When everything was ready, we then
walked to the terminal to get on the bus.

However, when we got there, we had a problem in the card tap machine. The
jaklingko card used must be used by only one person, so Harlan and Okta
cannot enter the platform. Finally, we returned to Intan's house and went on a
motorbike.

`
2. Looking for the Foreign Tourist
We took over 1 hour drive to get to the Old Town. It is not easy to find foreign tourists
during curfews people are already willing to go home for recreation. For almost 15
minutes of walking, we finally found foreign tourists near the Bank Indonesia
pedestrian museum. However, because he was in a hurry, we gave up the intention to
interview him. Then finally we returned to the side area of the Fatahillah museum.
There were three strangers walking leisurely. We hurriedly chased him and asked for
permission to ask for an interview, unfortunately the stranger refused on the grounds
that he wanted to have dinner with his friend.
Unyielding, we went around again looking for foreign tourists. However, the
clock has pointed to the number 8, the state of the Fatahillah museum is getting quiet.
Finally, we decided to go home.

PART 2 : Sunday, November 6, 2022

1. Trip to Old Town (Kota tua)

The journey is still going on. Right on Sunday, we again explored the Old Town to get
a foreign tourist to interview. This time, we purely went three of us unaccompanied by
Harlan because he was unable to attend. Not wanting to be stuck in traffic and also a
gun to avoid rain/cloudy weather in the afternoon, we planned to leave early. As
usual, at first we all gathered at his house Intan which is located closest to the
terminal. Around 1 pm, after dzuhur prayer time we went to Pinang Ranti terminal.
Not to forget, before leaving, we went briefly to Indomart to buy snacks and a little
small gift for an interview late.
2. Busway Route To Old Town
Jakarta is the capital of Indonesia. Jakarta dominates Indonesia's administrative,
economic, cultural activities, and is a major commercial and transportation hub in
Asia with a total population of about 9 million, Jakarta has more people than any other
city in Indonesia. To accommodate such a large population, Jakarta's transportation
facilities must have been designed more fully, there are MRT, LRT, Commuter Line,
and Transjakarta Busway. Buses are our main transportation because they are
convenient to use and easy to find everywhere. At Pinang Ranti terminal, we took the
Pluit busway route. On the way, we transited 2 times. First, we got off at the Cawang
UKI stop. At Cawang UKI, we went up again to the PGC-Harmony department.
Then, the second one, we transited at the Harmoni stop. From Harmoni, we went
straight past Glodok and got off at the Kali Besar stop. About hampir 1 hour and a
half, we finally got to the Old Town at half past 3pm.

We took a break in Kali Besar while buying some food and drinks. Then, we
continued on the road to find tourists. Unlike yesterday, this time we easily got
tourists because the Old Town is very crowded and crowded with visitors. There are
many culinary stands lined up in front of and beside the Fatahillah museum. Not to
forget there are also music concerts by local bands that also enliven the atmosphere. In
less than 30 minutes, we saw two foreign tourists walking leisurely. As a result, we
immediately approached and started the interview.

3. Interview Content:
We : Excusme Sir, do you have free time?
Tourist : Oh yes yes sure.

Can we take a picture together?
Tourist : Oh of course you guys are very friendly …
CONCLUSION
Everyone is born with a different culture and language. It is these differences that
shape us to grow according to the culture and language of the place where we live. By
meeting people from other continents, from different races, sharing thoughts with each
other, we come to know what they feel when they arrive in Indonesia or what makes
them surprised by the difference in cultural shock. This interview also educates our
speaking training in English. Although the foreign tourists we meet are from France
and Spain, where they have their country's native language as well, but they still speak
and reply to interviews in English. This proves that English is a very important
international language in communication. English is the Language of world unity.

Thus we compiled this paper, for its attention we thank you.
