You are on page 1of 6

Hi! Good day viewers and ma’am Melanie Melecio.

This
is my Performance Task 2 in Math 6. In this video, I will
explain or show the step-by-step process in answering
word problem involving multiplying and dividing
decimals. Let’s get in to the video.

Dividing Decimals:
There are many ways to divide decimals and I will show
you / teach you how to divide a decimal by a whole
number.
Let’s have a recap and be sure to listen carefully.
Example: 77.5 / 25 = 3
In solving word problems the AGONSA method is
usually used.
Which stands for:
A – for what is Ask?
G – for what is Given?
O – for what is the operation to be used?
N – for what is the Number Sentence?
S – for what is the Solution? And
A – for what is the answer? To what is ask.
Now let’s proceed to the problem. In this solving the
word problem we will use AGONSA method.
Rex walk a distance of 30.150 km in three hours. What is
his average speed per hour?
What is ask in the Problem? What is his average speed
per hour?

What is given in the Problem?

30.150 km and three hours
What is the operation to be used?
So understand the problem, okay what the problem ask is
his average speed per hour. So, we going to divide it. The
operation to be used is Division.
What is the number sentence?
The numbers sentence is 30.150 / 3 = N
What is the solution? The solution is
What is the answer, the final answer?
The final answer is. His average speed per hour is 10.05
or 10.050.
In dividing a decimal by a whole number, place the
decimal point of the quotient directly above the decimal
point of the dividend. Append zeros to the dividend, when
necessary. Then, carry on the division until the remainder
is zero or when the remainder repeats
Multiplying Decimals
We multiply decimals the same way, we multiply whole
numbers. We just need to remember that the number of
decimal places in the product is equal to the total number
of decimal places in the factors.
Let’s have a recap again and be sure to listen carefully
Example: 2.4 * 9 = 21.6
Let’s now proceed to the problem. Again, We will the
AGONSA method.

2. Tiana spent Php. 650.25 for clothes per day. How much
will she spend in 7 days?
What is ask?
How much does she spends in 7 days?
What is given?
Php 650.25 and 7 days
What is the operation to be used?
The problem is she spends Php 650.25 on clothes per day,
and how much will she spend in 7 days. So, we're going
to multiply it. Thus, the Operation to be used is
Multiplication.
What is the solution? The solution is…
What is the Answer? The final answer or the answer is.
She spends Php 4,551.75 in 7 days.
Don’t forget to put the peso sign.

The Importance of Multiplying and Dividing Decimals:

We use decimals every day while dealing with money,
weight, length etc. Decimal numbers are used in situations
where more precision is required than the whole numbers
can provide.

Thank you for listening and joining me. Goodbye and

see you next time.
