The Indian People's Party wrote a letter to the Election Commission demanding strong action against the criminal activities of the Samajwadi Party in the upcoming by-election in Manpur assembly constituency. The state minister JP Singh wrote to the EC alleging that norms of free and fair elections were being violated by the Samajwadi Party through intimidation of voters before polling. He stated that SP leaders in several constituencies including Manpur, Karchhana and Tilauriganj were distributing money and liquor to influence voters and prevent them from voting for other parties. The IPP urged the EC to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections in Manpur by-election on 5th December.
