My name is Jillian Ferre, and I am currently in my final semester of nursing school. I am
graduating in December from the University of Arizona with my BSN. I have always been a passionate learner and am proud of my growth mindset. I offer all my patients caring and compassion, but I hope to continue learning how to establish boundaries and offer myself compassion in my first year as a nurse. I have had a wonderful and educational clinical experience at the University of Arizona. Most recently, I completed my preceptorship in the Intensive Care Unit at Oro Valley Hospital. I worked alongside my preceptor for five weeks, and by the end of the experience, I assumed a full patient assignment with minimal direction from my preceptor. During my preceptorship, I prioritized patient-centered care and received compliments from multiple patients and staff members for my genuine caring. I am proud to have inspired this unit to create EKG strip bottles for the family members of patients who passed away. I believe my time in the customer service industry has prepared me for the professional nurse role in many ways. I first developed my attention to detail and organizational skills during my time as a hostess, and I continue to bring this keen eye to the clinical setting. Furthermore, I developed active listening and conflict-resolution skills as a waitress. Because of my history as a competitive ski racer, I am aware of my imperfections, and, as a result, I have developed a growth mindset. My growth mindset will serve me well in a nurse residency, allowing me to receive feedback well and make the most of the learning opportunities. Because of my attention to detail, growth mindset, and compassion, I believe I will excel in a nurse residency program. I would love to discuss your facility and what I can contribute to the organization in an interview. Thank you for your time and consideration.
