A Message from the Future by Jollibee Studios – Formalism Approach

By Patricia Gabriell Mula

Given its deep symbolism and rich emotions, this story from Jollibee Studios, titled "A
Message from the Future," has a significant impact on the lives of its viewers. The audience is
drawn in by its plot because it evokes strong emotions that cause them to reflect on the past
and think of what could happen in the future. It demonstrated how crucial each component of
the story is since, without all of them, the story would not be complete and wouldn't be
interesting or profound. The story as a whole is a wonderful one to deeply illustrate its
symbolism because it has each of the component of a good story.

The narration of an elderly man reflecting on his history makes a significant contribution
to the theme and symbolism of the story. In addition to this, it advances the plot, heightening its
interest. Other than the elderly man, the characters include the mother and children, and
grandchildren. Without any of these, the story wouldn't have the same impact as it has. Each of
these people serves a purpose in the narrative that justifies their presence. Without them, the
family's happiness cannot be represented as a whole as it appears in the story, just like it cannot
be without the children. Without the mother, the things she does for her family and motherly
love won't be seen and have an impact on the viewers' lives, especially those of the mothers and
children out there. Naturally, without the father, the spectacular story's plot wouldn't be
understood. The family won't be able to enjoy themselves without his sacrifice.

In addition to how each character is portrayed in the narrative, the setting has a
significant impact on how it is conveyed. This depicts the pandemic period of 2019, in which
many people are facing numerous challenges. It significantly affects what the story portrays
because the pandemic era is one of the worst periods in the people's lives and also one of their
most memorable periods on a positive note. After all, they were able to look back and, in line
with what the story portrays, the adage "don't take things for granted." And the last part where
they were able to signify the importance of eating together that gives the joy everybody wants is
a good setting in the story.
In conclusion, this story undoubtedly conveys a comforting message to the audience.
This has a good influence on the viewer's life because it is simple to understand, conveys a
profound understanding of what joy can offer, and demonstrates how fulfilling it is to receive.
The emotional impact this narrative has on the mind of the audience has a significant impact on
whether it successfully illustrates the point it is making. Overall, the story's characters, narrative,
symbolism, locales, narration, mood, and effect are all extremely well represented, and together
with the way it is delivered, it is clear that this is a fantastic story. Depicting what is important -
We can find happiness in what really matters: family, despite change and difficulties. Together,
let's treasure every moment that is priceless.
