► These Rules came into existence in exercise of power conferred under section 27 of the RTI Act 2005
(power to make rules by appropriate Govt) and in supersession of the Central Information Commission
(Appeal Procedure) Rules, 2005 and the Right to Information (Regulation ofFee and Cost) Rules, 2005.

3) FAA means an officer in public authority senior in rank to the CPIO to whom an appeal is preferred
under Section 19 of the RTI act 2005

5) Section means sections under the RTI Act 2005
6) all other words and expressions used herein but not defined in these rules shall have the same
meanings assigned to them in the Act.
❖ Rulc-3. Application fee

► Amount of Rs IO /-
► No. of words should not be more than 500 excl uding Annexurcs . CPIO & ApplicanlS address.
► Provi ded that no application shall be rejected only on the ground that it contains more than five hundred words.
❖ Rule-4. Fees for providing infonnation. The following rates arc prescribed for providing information under RTI Act under
Sec 6 ( request for obtaining information) & Di~posal of Request under Sec 7 of RTI Act 2005
✓ A-3 or smaller size paper:- Rs 2 per page
✓ actual cost or price of a photocopy in large size paper

✓ actual cost or price for samples or models
✓ diskcnc or floppy:-Rs 50 each
✓ price fixed for a publication or Rs 2 per page of photocopy
✓ inspection of records for 1" Hr:- No fee
✓ inspection of records for each subsequent Hrs or fraction thereof :- Rs 5 each
✓ so much o f postal charge involved in supply of information that exceeds fifty rupees

❖ Rule-5. Exemption from Payment oC Fee.


✓ BPL class of citizen s ubject to production of requisite certificate Issued from the appropriate Govt to
be enclosed with the application :-No fee
❖ Rule-6. Mode of Payment of fee
✓ By cash to the public authority or to the CAPIO of the public authority, as the case may be, against a
proper receipt
✓ By DD or bankers' cheque or IPO payable to the Accounts Officer of the public authority
✓ By electronic means to the Accounts Officer of the pulllic authority, if facility for receiving fees
through electronic means is available with the public authority.
❖ Rule-7. Appointment of Secretary to the Commission by the Central Government , an officer not
below
the rank of Additional Secretary to the Government of India.

❖ The CIC, IC and SCIC, SIC, shall be.deemed to have retired from previous service with effect fro m
the date of his appointment as CIC or an JC in the Central lnfonnation Commission
❖ Pay o f the CIC:-Rs. 2,50,000/- (fixed) per mensem
❖ Pay of the IC, SCIC and SIC:- Rs. 2,25,000 (fi xed) per mensem
❖ In case the CJG or IC and SCJC or SIC, as the case may be, at the time of his appointment is, in
receipt of any pension, the pay o f such C IC or IC and SCIC or SIC, as the case may be, shall be
reduced by the amount of that pension including any portion of pension which was commuted and
pension equivalent o f other forms of retirement benefits excluding pension equivalent of retirement
gratuity;
❖ The CIC or IC and SCIC or SlC, as the case may be, shall be entitled to draw dearness
the rate admissible to an officer holding a post carrying the same pay ln the Central
State Government, as the case may be. as revised from time to time.
