RULE #1: If the verb ends in vowel -e, just add a -d to the end
Example: close – closed
dance – danced
RULE #2: If the verb ends in consonant b, n, p, g, double the consonant and add -ed to the end of the root form of the
verb.
clap – clapped
RULE #3: If the verb ends in t, k, sh and ch and some words ending in n and p, add -ed.
Example: pay - prayed
enjoy – enjoyed
RULE #5: If the verb ends in -y preceded in consonant, change the -y into an -i and add -ed.
Example: cry - cried
