I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
a. define and identify what is a verb.
b. understand the use of verbs.
c. perform the given task that depicts their knowledge about verbs (roleplaying,
tableau, & poem); and
d. Create sentences containing action verbs.

7. Recall the past lesson
B. Motivation
C. Activity
Ask the students to identify the action words from the statements through written work,
individually.
Direction: In a ¼ sheet of paper, write the action word/s of each statement.
D. Abstraction
Introduce a story entitled “To Root, to Toot, to Parachute: What is a Verb?” by
Brian P. Cleary.
Let the students identify the action words from the given story through oral
recitation.
E. Application
Task 2: Performance
Each group will create a presentation that shows their understanding of the lesson.
Direction: The class will be divided into 3 groups. Each group will be given different
task to perform; tableau, roleplaying and poem. Each group will be given 15 minutes to
plan and prepare, 5 minutes to perform.
Total: 30 points

IV. ASSESSMENT
Direction: Choose 5 verbs from the given story (To Root, to Toot, to Parachute: What is
a Verb?) and use it in a sentence.
Example: Word: swim Sentence: I love to swim in the swimming pool.
V. ASSIGNMENT
Search at least one phrasal verb story.
