Japan Invitation Letter Open City Shaper 2020
FIRST Japan is thrilled to announce that we will host the FIRST LEGO League Open International
in 2020 in Nagoya Japan.
We will be welcoming more than 80 teams from more than 50 countries and celebrating students
and their Gracious Professionalism, passion for science, technology and so much more.
This is not only the FLL event, but also FLL Jr. EXPO and FRC off-season event will be held
together. (We’ll have 40 teams for FLL Jr., 80 teams for FLL and 9 teams for FRC).
We are looking forward to seeing you all in 2020 the year the Olympic Game will be held in Japan.
Website: We’ll let you know when Event website is opened in October.
Accommodation: There are many hotels in Nagoya area. A list of recommended hotels with
discount will be released in October 2019 at our event website.
Food: Lunches on May 8,9 and 10 and snacks at Friendship Night will be provided.
Participation fee: 27,000Yen per team member, 22,000Yen per coach,family and friends.
Preliminary schedule:
Thursday May 7, Team arrival, Pit set up, City tour (optional) .
Friday, May 8, Coach meeting, Opening ceremony, Practice rounds, Judging, friendship night.
Saturday, May 9, Judging, Robot games round.
Sunday, May 10, Robot games round, Closing ceremony.
Invitation process:
1.Selected Partners are being given limited number of invitation, which will be then allocated by each
Partner in their country or region.
2.The organizer will contact partners to follow up on accepted and declined invites in order to relocate
invites to fill the quota of the event hopefully by December 2019. Further information for each team’s
registration will require Partners to forward the details of each team’s coach/es.
3.The organizer will share registration details with the coaches. One team consists of 2-10 students and
1-2 coaches. Deadline to register is the 29th of February 2020.
4. Qualified teams will receive emails with invitations to register for the event.
Registration for volunteers: Will be available at event website from November 2019.
Arrival: Chubu Centrair International Airport will be the nearest airport to the venue.
To the venue : Kinjo-futo station is the nearest station to the facility and it’s about 25 minutes by train
from Nagoya station. Tokyo station to Nagoya station is about 90 minutes.
Visa: Teams that require a visa can ask Takahiro Kondo the Tournament Director for a Letter of
invitation.
