What Was The Role Of The Church Like Before The
Revolution?
Before the revolution the church was one of the biggest landowners in the
country which means they controlled properties that provided massive revenues
from the people who lived & worked on the land, not only that but at the time
they also had a lot of influence on the king because the king’s “power” came
from god. The church was also one of the only places you could go to get health
care & education because they kept registry of birth, deaths & marriages.
What Was The Role Of The Church Like After The
Revolution?
After the french revolution all church properties was nationalized, sized and sold.
Religious men and women were forced out of their monasteries and convents.
Why Did The Role Of The Church Change?
The role of the church changed because the french revolution mostly began with
attacks on the church corruption & wealth of the higher clergy. Over inequality
with the lower estates.
How Did The Role Of The Church Change?
The role of the church changed because of the new revolutionaries suppressing
the church & them abolishing the catholic monarchy, nationalizing the church’s
property and exiling 30,ooo priests & killing hundreds more.
