Requesting Approval to purchase two internal Hard Disk Drives for UKTPS File Server
Recently, one of the four Hard Disk drives of the file server failed unexpectedly and all recovery
attempts has been unsuccessful. Since this disk is a part of a Redundant Array of Disks (RAID 1+0), it
is essential that the new hard disk be of the same brand, model, size and specification due to technical
limitations of this setup. The procurement of these disk drives is urgent since the file server is no more
accessible to staff of UKTPS until the faulty disk is replaced.
Therefore, it is required to purchase 2 Nos. of 1TB “Western Digital Blue” Desktop SATA 64MB Cache
WD10EZEX Hard Disk Drives (Part N0. 691790-001). One of these disks will be used to replace the
faulty disk and the other one will be kept as a spare in case of another failure since these disks are more
than 8 years of age since their manufacturing in 2012.
Also, to assist with such computer maintenance work, it is essential to have a SATA/IDE-to-USB
converter kit as well.
The total estimated cost for above mentioned purchases will be approximately Rs. 20,000.00.
