1. What is the title of the text and what is this text about? The title of the text is “The Bath” . The

text is about a little boy who was involved in a tragic accident on his birthday week and was in a

coma till the end of the story.

2. What is the author's view? How do I know? The author played a narrator’s view, and I know

this because all the author did was explaining the events that happened.

3. What is the evidence presented by the author to support ideas? The author presented a lot of

evidence, however, to list a few, each day has an event and the day is written vividly at the

beginning of the paragraph.

4. Is the evidence valid? How do I know? The evidence is valid because there are a number of

factors that back it up in each paragraph.

5. Is the evidence relevant? How do I know? The evidence is relevant. For instance, in the short

story it was stated that after the boy was hit by a car he got up and went home, however, when he

got home after narrating the incident to his mum, he fainted. (Carver, 1989, pg.49, para 1 ).These

are evidence that are relevant.

6. Have I heard or read anything similar or dissimilar? What is it? I haven't read anything

dissimilar to this. However, I’ve read something similar to this. It’s a real life story about a child

that was hit by a car but was fortunate.

7. Do I agree or disagree with the views expressed by the author? Why? The view expressed by

the author is that of a narrator and that’s not a view one can agree or disagree with. So, I am

indifferent.
