Choose one of these heroes and research one of the four individuals.  Read about this
individual, and then explain IN YOUR OWN WORDS why you believe this person has
been highlighted as a “hero,” and an example of the type of work that they’ve done.
Also explain how this work contributes toward the importance of entrepreneurship for
the global economy.  Your assignment MUST also include the individual’s full name and
the country that they work in, and cite your sources.  (If you cut and paste any
information directly from the site, you will automatically fail the assignment.)
Reading about the four heroes enlightened me a lot because, they dis things that regular

people wouldn’t do. For instance, Kilash Satgarthi (India) rescued enslaved children while

advocating against child labour. Martin Fisher and Nick moon (Kenya) brought in a low cost

pump to increase the yield of farmers. While Muhammad Yunus (Bangladesh) started a bank that

loaned families money without collateral. Dinal Abdel Wahad (Egypt), broke many taboos to

create quality schools for children with disabilities. (Malone, 2005).

These individuals have brought about a new set of entrepreneurs. However, amongst this

brilliant individuals. Martin Fisher and Nick Moon (Kenya) really caught my attention. Reading

about this two individuals, they contributed a lot to the growth of Kenya. However, as the

worlds population keeps growing, agriculture and food alone can reduce poverty. Generally,

how to not want for seasons has been a general problem in Africa.

Brief Background story.

Martin Fisher was born in England 1958 he moved with his family 6o the United States at 8,

studied in Cornell University and got his bachelors degree in mechanical engineering in 197. He

also got his masters and doctoral degrees from St Ford University. (Lemelson-MIT, n.d).

His work started after obtaining his degrees, he started an NGO in Kenya called

ActionAid to implement rural projects with Low cost technological tools, build schools while

training workers on entrepreneurship.

Later on, Fisher and his business partner Nick Moon founded Kickstart in 1991 after

inventing a manual pump that irritates farmland up to two areas in size and he started a platform
called ‘Super MoneyMaker' pump for the distribution of the product. The pumps usually cost

$100 but Fisher made a cheaper model called the moneymaker hip pump for around $70. On

average, it can irrigate an acre of land. According, to Fisher, an average farmer could expect a

500% increase in income by installing the money maker pump. Kickstart sold about 250,00

pumps, launched 160,000 and lifted a lot of people out of poverty.
