Movie Review: Black Panther

Nobody has ever seen anything like Black Panther, not just like about the metal stuff
inside Captain America’s shield, and not even just a massive superhero movie populated almost
entirely by black people, but also a Marvel film that actually feels like it takes place in the real
world. Black Panther is different. For me it’s the first one of these films that flows with the
genuine sense of culture and identity, memory and musicality.

There’s no doubt that you’re still in the Marvels universe in this movie, but this movie
entry will sweep you off to a part you’ve never seen just like the hidden lost world in Africa
defined by the royal traditions and innovative technologies. The Black Panther movie tackled
about the wonders of society is fun to behold, the streets are full of life, and the people in
Wakanda are happy. This enlightened land remains a monarchy, and with his father’s death, T-
Challa becomes a king in a spectacular coronation ceremony. T-Challa’s mother Ramonda was
there to support him together with his sister Shuri who is a smart scientist who’s next in line for
the throne. Then there’s M-Baku who opposed to T-Challa’s technological beliefs and challenges
him to a mano-mano fight which takes place in a lagoon surrounded by towering rocks from
which concerned citizens can watch and cheer. The physical contest was intense which results to
T-Challa’s victory. The biggest threat to T-Challas and Wakandian stability was an imposing
African named Erik Killmonger who is strongly convinced that vibranium should be available to
all people. There is no doubt that the good will always win and the bad will never win against the
good.

This is a film for everybody, Marvel fans or not, but especially kids will be rewarded by
it. In one of the final scenes, a young American boy playing basketball sees T-Challa and his
spaceships. “Who are you?” he asked to T-Challa and we see the amusement in his face, as if he
was looking at a future version of himself. Black Panther is a dream for all the kids in the future,
it will enrich their hearts and open their minds.
