Teacher will:
Ask students to picture a scenario where they are asked to write an informative essay.
However, their environment is messy and unorganized. How would they start brainstorming?
What will happen? (Show picture of a messy and unorganized room.)
Students may write their ideas in a sticky note or index card and post it in front.
Ask students to imagine brainstorming in a room which is clean and neatly organized. Can they
focus now compared to the first scenario? Why? (Show picture of a clean and neatly organized

Relate the idea to writing a paragraph. Ideas must be organized and coherent.

Cohesion is an important feature of academic writing. It can help ensure that your writing
coheres or sticks together which will make it easier for readers to follow the main ideas in your essay or
report. You can achieve good cohesion by paying attention to five important features. The first of these
is repeated words. The second is the use of reference words. The third one is transition signals. The
