Analysis on Nutrition Research

The definition of the word, ‘Nutrition’ has changed over the years with how
people have understood it and the research that goes along with it. Often times
misunderstood, this term not only deals with one’s current health status, but
also the long term effects and lifespan. The role of individual food components
in a diet can have unlike results from person to person, according to their
dietary restrictions and allergies, therefore it is important to understand that one
formula does not apply to all.
Nutrition can be essential to prevent and/or control conditions such as obesity
and non communicable diseases, which has been proven by research. A
balanced diet ensures a healthy growth, ageing and in some cases lowers the
risk of chronic diseases.

The American Society of Nutrition had launched the Nutrition Research Needs
project to educate stakeholders about the impact of nutrition research on
society. This project focused on six areas: individual responses, maintenance of
health, growth & reproduction, food supply, medical management and nutrition
related behaviors.

It is crucial to know that, nutrition goes alongside with agriculture. The


nutritional value, cost efficiency, availability are a few examples of the factors
that are considered during research. Going into the depths, biotechnology and
bioinformatics are helpful in achieving the desired results.

The relation between food and health is a matter that has just started to come
out to bring awareness and is being embraced by some parts of society. Such
studies could change minds and help understand the recipe for weight
management and disease avoidance and/or precaution.
