In this course we will look at the overall opportunities that Microsoft Teams are driving,
the end to end solutions Poly delivers for Microsoft customers from headsets and
speaker phones, to mobile phone stations, Desk Phones and conference room phones.
We will also discuss device management solutions that include Microsoft Teams Admin
Center, PMP – Plantronics Manager Pro, Resource Manager, PDMS-e and Poly Lens.
MSVEOSA101
Microsoft Voice Endpoint Sales

Let’s start out by looking at the overall opportunity that Microsoft Teams is driving. Poly
and Microsoft are long-term partners committed to making your meetings work through
voice solutions. Microsoft Teams is the ultimate collaboration tool, bringing everything
together in one place: people, conversations, content and tools, and is the future of
Microsoft unified communications – both voice and video.
With Skype for Business online retiring July of 2021, there will be over 1/3rd of Microsoft
customers moving to Teams. This means many of those customers will need new
phones and conference phones that support native Teams operation. Other customers
will recognize the value of Microsoft Teams and want to transition from Skype for
Business because of all the benefits Microsoft Teams has to offer, especially the native
Teams experience across devices.

The Covid-19 pandemic had every IT department scrambling to figure out how to
empower their workforce to work from home. Many turned to Microsoft Teams, which
has seen explosive growth. Daily active Microsoft Teams users more than doubled to 75
million users from March 2020 to April 2020—a 575% increase over the 13M daily
active users reported in June 2019. Some companies previously looking at “future
migration” have pivoted to “fast migration”.
MSVEOSA101
Microsoft Voice Endpoint Sales

Many companies are now considering working from home on a more permanent basis.
A recent Gartner CFO Survey reveals that 74% of CFOs intend to shift some
employees to remote work permanently post COVID-19. So next up for IT is finding the
optimal solutions for working from home.
While most employees were not able to bring their office phone home during the
pandemic – the IT departments will be moving their thinking from “how do we get people
working at home as quickly as possible with any technology available” to “what are the
optimal devices and solutions for our employees who will be shifted to working from
home on a more permanent basis”.

Microsoft has pioneered Unified Communications as a Service and has the leadership
position. With Office 365 subscriptions now becoming the norm, it’s very easy to add
voice and video services and realize significant savings. In this chart you can see the
shift from SIP technology which can be on-premises or online, to the 100% cloud-based
solution Microsoft Teams
Poly has been true to its vision of developing end-to-end solutions for Microsoft’s
customers. From the early days of collaboration with Live Communications Server, Poly
was Microsoft's strategic partner. Fast forward to today, our portfolio has only gotten
broader and our integration deeper. Poly's focus on its Microsoft portfolio is only
growing as we look towards the future of Teams and beyond.
MSVEOSA101

Currently there are two ways to connect to Teams, native which is Microsoft developed
and supported applications for desktops, mobile devices, phones, and meeting rooms
and Interop which is Microsoft or Certified Partner developed Gateway for Standards
Based Endpoints.
For customers coming over from other solutions like Cisco or Avaya, it is simple, just
deploy new native Microsoft Teams devices. Customers who previously bought phones
for Skype for Business can connect to Microsoft Teams with third party interoperability
phones qualified for Skype for Business Online.
These include Polycom VVX series phones like VVX 201, VVX 301/311, VVX 401/411,
VVX 501 and VVX 601. These phones will connect through a gateway service provided
by Microsoft who recently announced that they will continue gateway service support
beyond 2023 thereby extending customers’ ability to use 3rd party interoperability
phones such as VVX.
It is important to note; that for new customers it does not make sense to sell them a
VVX phone, instead you should position CCX phones for the best user experience and
native teams experience. We will cover this in more detail in the “End to End Solutions”
Poly delivers for Microsoft section of this course.

As you help your customer plan their migration strategy, there are many factors that will
influence device selection for both end users and rooms. The solutions they will be
buying include headsets, speakerphones, desk phones, conference phones and video
solutions—both personal and room. Pictured here are some key inputs to create the
right journey with your customers.

The audio experience is the most important part of a call—whether it is voice or video.
If you can’t clearly hear what’s being said, it stops communications and collaboration.
That’s where we made sure that you get the best audio experiences at your desk, on
the go, or in a room. Poly solutions for Microsoft Teams deliver the absolute best,
richest, loudest audio quality and clarity. Noise canceling technology like Acoustic
Fence, NoiseBlock and our newest innovation—NoiseBlockAI, means that your
conversations stay on track with distracting sounds removed.

Whether you work in a busy office filled with cubes, an open floor plan, or sit in with a
group of support pros, we can help make your calls go more smoothly. With a wide
selection of award-winning headsets, we’ve put crystal clear audio into incredibly
comfortable designs so you can do what you do best. The research Poly does on the
human factor, how our products will fit one’s ear, how long it is comfortable, and how
well you can hear the person on the other end, and they can hear you, all comes
through in every one of our products.
Poly has a full portfolio of “Built for Teams” devices, with a dedicated Teams button.
Committed to make collaboration easy for you, we have a long-term partnership with
Microsoft to ensure you can achieve more. Our high-quality headsets, work simply and
flexibly with Microsoft Teams, creating a one-stop shop for all your organization’s
personal and group collaboration device needs.
Let’s talk—it should be that simple. But there are so many headset scenarios, from
open offices, to mobile work, to hallway chats, to large-scale deployments, and it’s not a
one size fits all situation. Background noise or poor controls can get in the way too. Not
with Poly. We offer an unparalleled lineup, leveraging 50+ years of expertise, with
amazing sound and comfortable designs built for all of today’s needs.
In this section we will not go into every headset in detail—instead, we’ll highlight a few
of the newer devices that are certified for Microsoft Teams. These are the devices that
are optimized to work with Teams when you use a headset that is connected to your PC
or smartphone. For a complete overview of each of the headsets from Poly, there are
more resources to explore on the Poly Partner Portal.

Let’s first look at the recommended Blackwire portfolio for Microsoft Teams. Blackwire
headsets are “wired headsets”. The Blackwire line up has been refreshed over the last 2
years and includes many industry firsts such as the Blackwire 7225 boomless headset
with ANC—which stands for Active Noise Cancellation.
At the entry level we have the Blackwire 3300 with its updated styling, improved
comfort, 3.5mm option and – with the Microsoft Teams version -- it’s the top choice for a
mass deployment headset today.
At the mid-level we have the Blackwire 5200 with its padded headband and 3.5mm
options it’s the headset for comfort and flexibility. The Blackwire 7225 with its boomless
design and ANC – its designed for people who need to concentrate. And finally, the
Blackwire 8225 completes the line up as the premium headset offering with the best
audio performance to combat distracting open office noise.
MSVEOSA101
Microsoft Voice Endpoint Sales

If we take a closer look at the 8225, we can see it is the best sounding and best noise
canceling wired headset. The Blackwire 8225 is a premium headset and high-quality
materials have been used for the ear cushions and padded headband – making the
headset comfortable for all day use.
The Blackwire 8225 includes a total of 6 microphones – four of these are used for the
advanced hybrid ANC. The user can adjust the level of ANC via the three-position
switch on the inline control setting to either OFF/MID or HIGH. Ideal for optimizing the
required level of noise cancelling that the headset wearer experiences during all day
use.
The remaining two microphones are used for the noise cancelling with acoustic fence
technology – this ensures that it is only the users voice the far end hears – not the
background noise. The Microsoft Teams version include the Microsoft Teams button for
call answer or call end … and to interact with the desktop application for easy meeting
starts.

With multiple devices in an open office environment, you need freedom to roam and

computer, Voyager Office and UC Series Bluetooth® headsets make it easy to do more.
You can even listen to music between calls. Power up productivity with outstanding

Voyager Office series headsets are favored by employees who require mobility and
connection to multiple devices. There are several models in the Voyager Office series
that offer a dedicated Teams button for instant access to Teams.
There are several “office bases” offered as part of this solution: An office base for the
desk phone and mobile phone and an office base for the desk phone, mobile phone and
PC … which is likely the more popular choice.
Voyager 4200 series headsets are available as Voyager 4210 mono or 4220 hi-fi stereo
“over the head” wearing styles. Mono lets you hear your surroundings, while stereo lets
you zone in to your playlist or experience calls like you’re face to face.
The Voyager 5200 series headset is a single “in ear” headset that can be used in the
office, on the road and at home. Its sleek portable design makes it the perfect travel
buddy, sound like you are in the boardroom, even from the parking lot. With four

background noise again.

This chart shows the Teams Certified Headsets from Poly. Some of the newest
headsets introduced in 2019 and 2020 shown on the left with “dash M” in the product
name have a built–in Microsoft Teams button, which – when pressed – will bring up the
Microsoft Teams application or answer a call.

Wherever you’re working, turn it into a more professional-sounding space. With Poly
speakerphones it is easy to use at home, remotely or in the office. You’ll love the simple
plug-and-play USB connectivity, intuitive controls and high-quality sound. Get ready to
sound great, no matter where work takes you.
In the Poly speakerphone line up, we’ll highlight the two speakerphones that have the
Microsoft Teams button—Calisto 3200-M, a corded speakerphone and the Calisto
5300-M which adds Bluetooth connectivity. Pressing the Teams button on these
speakerphones provides immediate access to Teams or lets you answer or end calls.
Both offer exceptional audio quality, but do not offer any noise blocking capability. For
that we recommend the Calisto 7200, it does not offer a Teams version but does have
crystal clear clarity and echo cancellation.
Wherever you’re working, turn it into a more professional-sounding space. The
personal, portable Calisto 3200 corded speakerphone is easy to use at home, remotely
or in the office. You’ll love the simple plug-and-play USB connectivity, intuitive controls
and high-quality sound. Get ready to sound great, no matter where work takes you.
How easy is the Calisto 3200-M to setup and use? All you have to do is plug it in and
you’re ready to go, that’s it. The Calisto 3200 keeps things simple - so you can start
meetings in seconds. Powered by USB and compatible with both PC and Mac, you
don’t even need an extra power cord. Of course, the audio that it delivers is higher
quality then the audio on your phone or computer, so it allows you to experience richer,
clearer voices. The Calisto 3200-M is easy to use, with intuitive controls, visual
indicators and voice alerts that keep you informed of your call status.
Professional audio quality goes wireless with the Poly Calisto 5300. This personal,
portable Bluetooth ® speakerphone lets you sound your best wherever you’re working—
at home, remote or in the office. Beyond calls, everything you listen to sounds amazing,
—think video, podcasts and music. The 360-degree microphone helps you hear clearly
and makes sure others hear you on the other end of the call.
Today, calls take place on many devices – PCs, tablets and mobile phones. With
Bluetooth connectivity, the Calisto 5300 personal speakerphone enables you to connect
to any device quickly and reliably. The audio on your computer and phone has its limits,
MSVEOSA101

but with the Calisto 5300 you can experience richer clearer voices. And as with the
Calisto 3200, it is easy to use, has intuitive controls, visual indicators and voice alerts
that keep you informed of your call status.
The Calisto 7200 is designed as a group device but could also be used in a home office
should noise blocking be a desired feature. It does not block noise while you speak, but
if you are not speaking—it blocks background noises like keyboard typing, which is a
very common reason for hearing the phrase “can everyone please go on mute?”.

Think about your mobile-first users. Are you providing them what they really want:

Canada, New Zealand, Australia and the EU. The WS in the models’ name stands for
“W - meaning wireless charging cradle” and “S – a speakerphone is included” You can
order it with or without a headset … meaning that you can order the model without the
headset if the users already own that particular headset.
With customizable communication options, you can opt for one of the powerful Voyager
family Bluetooth® headsets, like the Voyager Focus, Voyager 5200, or Voyager 4220.
Or if you prefer a wired option, you can choose from the Blackwire family of headsets.
Press the Microsoft Teams button and Teams launches on your smart phone. The
adjustable viewing plate gives you just the right angle for a Teams video call and also

60 WS. For Elara models that come with a Voyager headset, not only is your phone
always charged, so is your headset. And with the intelligence built into the Voyager
headsets, you can easily answer a call just by putting on your headset.

No word or inflection is ever missed on a CCX business media phone. Fast and
responsive —so productivity rules. For native Teams environments, this is our CCX
Teams Edition phones. With CCX phones, you have a Native Microsoft Teams
experience. if you’re not quite ready to move from Skype for Business to Teams, the
CCX Teams Edition phones also support the Skype for Business profile. There is no
complicated firmware update needed to transition from Skype for Business to Teams.
It’s just a simple profile change.
With color touchscreen operation on your CCX phone, you have the same user
experience that you have on your Teams client on a smartphone. This reduces the need
for training and support. You have simple touch-access to contacts, meetings, and
voicemails – so users can get right to work.
So why do customers choose Poly and keep coming back? You guessed it … our
legendary sound quality. You hear every nuance with award-winning Poly audio and
noise blocking technology.
With the CCX Family there are many ways to connect – USB, Bluetooth, RJ9 and EHS
ports let you choose the headset that is right for you.
Some may ask … why do we even need phones. Can’t we just do everything with
headsets and clients? There are some important features and operational advantages
that a phone provides. A phone is “Always On” – You save several minutes in the
morning when you arrive at the office by not having to wait for your PC to boot up.
When you join a meeting from your PC, your PC can be very slow at doing other things,
even typing, especially as PC resources are prioritized to your call. If it’s a video call,
the requirements from the PC are more demanding.
Network quality of service (or QoS) is also important. An IP phone is assigned the
highest network precedence level with a DSCP value of 46 so you don’t get “packet
drops” or latency issues that make your conversation stutter. And imagine your PC
MSVEOSA101
Microsoft Voice Endpoint Sales

starts a mandatory software update while you are needed on an important customer
call. With a phone, you won’t be dropped.
If you decide to deploy users in some departments as “headset only” users without
phones, you’ll probably still want to intersperse some hoteling workspaces and common
areas with phones. Office visitors forget to bring their headsets, and you never know
when someone is going to need to dial 911.
Managers and Executives in private offices prefer to use speakerphones over headsets
and handsets. CCX phones provide an amazing speakerphone experience that
supports the new NoiseBlockAI feature blocking background noise and making the call
experience even better.
With the “one touch feature access” – You can think of the phone as a “command and
control” device with “power user” features. Your communications tools are sitting right
where you need them—front and center—on a dedicated device (your phone) at all
times. Your calls, meetings, and voicemails are all visible without having to find the
Microsoft Teams app on your PC desktop.
The Poly CCX phone experience starts with audio quality. Poly is known for our
signature sound quality. Where some competitor phones offer 200 hertz to 7 kilohertz
for wideband calling, Poly HD voice on the CCX 500 and CCX 600 has an incredible
range from 100 hertz - with more low end, to 20 kilohertz at the top end, supporting the
entire range of human hearing.
The CCX phone runs the Microsoft Teams app on Android 9 with a fast chip set. Your
Teams experience is consistent across all the devices you use. That makes it easy for
user adoption and reduces help desk calls to IT.
Our CCX series phone choices check all the boxes … but it’s more than just checking a
box. Other vendors phones have “speakerphone” checked off too, but do they perform?
A speakerphone has to perform with world class full duplex echo cancellation.
Microphone and speaker placement with noise blocking technology is both an art and a
science. With over 25 years of leadership in conference phone and speakerphone
technology — Poly delivers the experience you expect for hassle-free conversations.
Our phones with handsets sound great, but what about a phone with a headset? In
three words: “together is better”. Poly now offers new “no handset” model choices with
the CCX 500 and CCX 600. What does a “no handset” phone offer? Well first it reduces
desktop real estate … the phone is simply smaller without the handset and you can
choose from the many different Poly headset options that suit your user’s style.
Did you know that using a headset as part of your daily work routine will help improve
your posture, and make you feel more active and refreshed at the end of the work day.
Not only does a headset help you physically, it also increases your work productivity.
Studies have shown that using a headset instead of holding the phone frees up a hand
and can improve productivity by up to 43%.

Let’s take a closer look at the Poly CCX Microsoft Teams Edition phones. Poly CCX
series phones are packed with the features that businesses relish. Poly HD Voice.
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities. With Android 9 under the hood, these phones are built
for speed and performance as Microsoft continues to roll out future Teams features.
The CCX 400 is an entry level phone suitable for users who make few calls in a day, as
well as common areas and wall mounting use cases. Depending on the Microsoft
license type, it can be provisioned as a common area phone (with a CAP license from
Microsoft) or with the full Teams user experience. It has just one type A USB port. It
does not have a dedicated Teams button. To support either WiFi or Bluetooth on the
CCX 400, you will need an optional dongle to enable these features so consider the
CCX 500 instead if you want the USB port for a headset and Bluetooth features.
Poly CCX 500 provides an everyday solution for professional communications using
Microsoft Teams. Designed for a native Teams experience, CCX 500 features a large
capacitive touchscreen display oriented like a smartphone, providing users with a
familiar, easy-to-use interface. Poly brings our legendary audio quality: Poly HD Voice
and Acoustic Clarity.
The CCX 500 has an integrated Bluetooth 4.2 radio, so you can natively use a wireless
headset. For wired headsets, the phone has a dedicated RJ9 port, plus USB and USB-
C ports for plug-and-play headsets. It comes with a full-duplex speakerphone with
premier noise reduction.
Poly CCX 500 provides a dedicated, Android-based desktop phone for Microsoft
Teams. This model of CCX 500 comes without a handset. Connect a Poly wireless
headset using Bluetooth or a wired headset using USB. The speakerphone features
Acoustic Clarity technology with full-duplex HD audio and enhanced echo cancellation.
If you think you may need a handset, order the phone with a handset as It’s not
modular. You can’t add a handset to a “no handset” CCX 500 model at a later date.
Poly CCX 600 is an elite desk phone that provides a native Microsoft Teams
experience. CCX 600 features a 7" capacitive touchscreen display that makes it as
simple to use as a smartphone or tablet. The phone displays the familiar Teams
interface, reducing friction and learning time. On top of the interface, CCX 600 provides
the legendary Poly audio quality with HD Voice and Acoustic Clarity. The phone has
integrated Bluetooth support for wireless headsets, plus USB and USB-C ports for plug-
and-play USB headsets and an RJ9 port for corded headsets. The full-duplex
speakerphone features best-in-class noise reduction and the handset is hearing aid
compatible for accessibility.
Poly CCX 600 is certified for use with Microsoft Teams, and has two Gigabit Ethernet
ports for lightning-fast, future-proof network connectivity. It also has an integrated Wi-Fi
radio for wireless network connectivity. Power CCX 600 via PoE or via power supply
(not included).
Poly CCX 600 gives you an Android-based phone with touchscreen display for Microsoft
Teams, so you'll always be connected. The 7" display gives a familiar, tablet-like UX
MSVEOSA101

and the dedicated Teams button makes it simple to start collaborating. This model of
CCX 600 comes without a handset, so you can connect the headset of your choice. Use
a wireless Bluetooth headset or a wired USB headset. Like the CCX 500 If you think
you may need a handset, order the phone with a handset as It’s not modular. You can’t
add a handset to a “no handset “CCX 600 model at a later date.
Let’s take a quick look at the CCX model differences in a single view
With no Microsoft Teams button, only one type A USB port and no integrated Bluetooth,
the CCX 400 is somewhat limited. But it’s also the least cost phone in the lineup making
it a great choice for common areas and lobbies … or for users who make very few
phone calls in a day.
The CCX 500 and CCX 600 are higher quality audio and come in models with handsets
or “no handset” models. Both have integrated Bluetooth support which may provide
advantages for future feature development in addition to supporting Bluetooth headsets.
The CCX 600 has the largest touchscreen size and has integrated Wi-Fi. If deploying
any phone with Wi-Fi, remember to order the optional power adapter. CCX phones all
support power over Ethernet … so they do not ship with the power adapter in the box.
For customers who have not made the transition to Teams, CCX Teams Edition phones
also supports Skype for Business.
How are your customers thinking about phone deployments and the phone choices?
The best phone or headset choice for each user may differ based on where a person
works and what they do. There is a PPT presentation on Enterprise Personas on the
Poly Partner Portal that can be download if you would like to familiarize yourself with the
concept of personas.
When selecting phones, first understand your users and their work styles. Who will use
a headset with client? Who will benefit from Elara? Who will be more productive using a
desk phone? Are they working in open offices and spending time on calls while using
their PC and keyboard? Do they need to be mobile in the office while on their call? For
users getting phones, choose the phone model that fits each persona (with or without a
handset).
To see which headsets are tested and supported on the CCX phones, go to the
compatibility guide on our website and type in the CCX model name where it says,
“Device or Host Name” and click the search button. For USB connected headsets, CCX
400 will support Type A USB. For CCX 500 and CCX 600, you have a choice of USB
type A or USB Type C connected headsets.
Finally, order the headset to attach to the phone that suits their work style. For open
office users, a wired headset is lower cost, and allows keeping both hands free to type
or take notes while on a call. For users who need some mobility while they are on a call,
a Voyager series headset allows the user the convenience of stepping away from their
phone while on a call. This can be especially useful for remote workers who work out of
their home.
MSVEOSA101

And don’t forget to deploy CCX 400s in common areas like lobbies, break rooms, and
cafeterias—you never know when there will be a need to make an emergency call.

Selecting the right conference phone for voice-only calling with Microsoft Teams is
easy, the Poly Trio C60 brings people together. Launch big ideas, and make sure
everyone at the table can be heard, near or far, with Poly signature audio. NoiseBlockAI
means speech flows naturally, without interruptions. And expansion microphones
deliver brilliant audio for even large conference rooms. It's built for simplicity –for audio
conferences or when paired with a Poly video room solution. Best of all, it's super easy
to use-launch and join meetings at the touch of a button.
The Trio C60 conference phone is an excellent investment choice for any customer who
is starting out with voice only conferencing in their conference rooms—it’s simply the
best conference phone available in the market with the signature Poly audio quality.
And when they upgrade their conference rooms to support video collaboration, they can
bring the Trio C60 along.
While the Trio 8500 and Trio 8800 support Microsoft Teams for voice calling, Trio C60 is
the conference phone to sell for any new Microsoft opportunity as the Trio C60 has up
to four times faster performance compared to Trio 8800 and runs on Android 9. The
increase in performance allows us to add NoiseBlockAI—which requires very fast
processor and DSP resources. It also makes Trio C60 a more capable platform for
future Microsoft Teams features.
How is NoiseBlockAI different? In the previous generation of the Noiseblock feature,
the background noise is only eliminated when nobody in the room is talking. With
NoiseBlockAI, the advanced noise cancelling algorithms also help reduce the
background noise while you talk.
For customers who have not made the transition to Teams, Trio C60 also supports
Skype for Business. So, if your customer is still planning their transition to Microsoft
Teams while still using Skype for Business, the Trio C60 is the conference phone to
buy.
