Cisco Acquired Braodsoft

Cisco is an American multinational technology company in the center of Silicon
Valley California. Cisco develops, manufactures and sells networking hardware,
software, telecommunications equipment and other high-technology services and
products. BroadSoft is a publicly-traded company and a global leader in the
Unified Communications-as-a-Service (UCaaS) and Contact Center-as-a-Service
(CCaaS) space.
In early 2018, Cisco announced an agreement to acquire BroadSoft for $1.9 billion.
On February 2, 2018, Cisco completed the acquisition of BroadSoft, which comes
after Reuters first reported in August that BroadSoft was exploring a sale, allows
Cisco to further diversify away from its stagnating switches and routers business
by giving it a stronger foothold in selling unified communications software to big
telecommunications firms.

Reasons behind the acquisition

Here are some points on the basis of which Cisco acquire the broadsoft.
1. The acquisition of BroadSoft reinforces Cisco's commitment to Unified
Communications and enhances its ability to address the millions of aging
TDM lines poised to transition to IP technology and cloud native solutions
over the coming years.
2. The broadsoft company provides the building blocks for service providers to
build cloud-based communications services such as voice, video, web
conferencing and now team messaging and contextual services. For the avail
of all these services, Cisco acquired the broadsoft in 2018.
3. BroadSoft is the technology innovator in cloud PBX, unified
communications and team collaborations.

Skills, Cisco get after acquiring Broadsoft

1. BroadSoft is a company, which sells software that businesses use to
manage communications systems and help people work together better
that was the biggest reason for Cisco to acquire broadsoft. After
acquiring it, Cisco improved its working environment by letting its
employees to group chat live through software.
2. Now after acquisition Cisco has new technology called cloud based call
center.
3. Now Cisco also offer the per installed higher-level call center
application like call waiting with the hardware’s.
4. Employees can discuss ideas can attend meetings live from distance.

10.Cisco complements broadsoft cloud meetings portfolio with the industry’s

most scalable and flexible platform in the growing cloud calling and contact
center spaces.
11.With 19M+ business subscribers and a presence in approximately 80
countries, BroadSoft has the broadest reach of any open standards-based
cloud-calling platform, available through more than 600 service providers
and channel partners around the world with this acquisition Cisco has also
acquired the audience if broadsoft.

How the technology was transferred

This acquisition is all about what IT vendors call “the future of work.” That
term refers to technologies meant to make it easier for workgroups and
service personnel to communicate with colleagues, customers, or partners via
voice, video, messaging, and/or web conferencing. BroadSoft sells cloud-
based “call control” software. That product is often re-labeled and sold by
traditional telephone companies to their customers. Cisco acquire the
broadsoft and then they updated their business according to the technology
called cloud based call center. So if a customer calls a small design firm and
is forwarded to a service person or routed elsewhere, the brains behind those
call interactions are often handled by BroadSoft. BroadSoft also offers call
center applications and higher-level software that provides features like call
waiting and other capabilities. If a company buys call center software from
Avaya or another provider, the total product typically includes call control
software component.
BroadSoft’s other key product area is what techies call unified
communications. That software is designed to let workgroups hold group
voice chats, video conferences, and share screens and documents. Now Cisco

is using this technology in its working environment. That is also an area

Cisco has attacked for the last decade first with WebEx and then Spark.
However, there are many other players, including Amazon (AMZN), which
launched Chime, a rival to Microsoft’s Skype for Business, earlier this year.
Cisco and BroadSoft have many opportunities to integrate Cisco’s meeting
and collaboration tools with BroadSoft’s call center software, explaining
BroadSoft’s software can provide tracking and analytics to these tools to
show, how long it takes an agent, using the unified collaboration software, to
resolve a customer’s issue.
BroadSoft brings Cisco more new-age cloud expertise. BroadSoft helps Cisco
get to a smarter software-defined network.
BroadSoft has more cloud-based services that Cisco can easily sell into its
installed base. Keep in mind these broadsoft people were cloud first and it is
in their DNA, which is still new to Cisco’s approach.
