REST OF THE TWIN DRAGON BLADES

Prologue
FADE IN

Int. Camelot Hall of the round table

King Arthur lies bleeding heavily mortally injured on the round table, His
legendary sword EXCALIBUR in its scabbard laid out by his side. The sound of
clashing steel and riotous yelling, A concoction of flame flies into the great hall
causing a flag to burst in a blaze of red.

GUENIVERE

My husband the great king Arthur felled by his own son, The
traitor Mordred.

LANCELOT
The knights need to know if Arthur will recover his order to quell
the rest of Mordred’s traitors.

ARTHUR
(Weakly with a bloody cough)
Do not shed false tears for me Lancelot after so long bedding my
wife, bring me the wiseman merlin only he can help us now.

Merlin walks calmly into the great hall from the growing flames to the surprise
of the queen and Arthurs knights, The flames subsiding and vanishing with
every step he took.

GAWAIN
(In agitated panic)

What took you so long wizard your king could be on his death
bed, and we are reclaiming the kingdom, you and your magics
would be most useful Merlin.

Arthur chuckles in clear pain as his old friend and advisor walks to his side, The
air around his weakened and injured body relaxing and easing his pain.
ARTHUR
(hopeful)
Merlin is there hope for Camelot and Albion do you bring good
tidings.

MERLIN
(With a warm reassuring smile)
Fear not my friend I come to bring you with me Nimue has
consulted the witch fairy Morgan le Fay, she will tend to your
wounds and allow you to heal at the Vale of Avalon.

Arthur smiles and uses what strength he musters to stand with his old friend
once more, stumbling as he held the wounds on his neck and side. Gawain helps
his sire stay on his feet.

GAWAIN
(With intense worry)
Sire let me carry you to the barge please your too wounded to make
the journey on your own, and the with the ongoing fighting the
route to port will be dangerous.

Arthur nods grabbing his loyal knight as they make their way to the barge port,
Gawain and Merlin defending the weakened king. Several of Mordred’s
followers rush to attack them as they finally get Merlin and Arthur onto the
barge. Gawain drawing his sword.

ARTHUR
(Full of contentment lets out a sigh)
Sir Gawain take Excalibur save Camelot and find Sir Bedivere, tell
him the time has come for Excalibur to return home and rest in the
lake.

Gawain takes Excalibur from his liege attaching it to his belt giving Arthur a
reassuring nod, before drawing his attention to the attackers. Gawain cuts the
barge rope tying it dock with his sword allowing it to leave Camelot safely as he
fends off the waves of soldiers.

Ext. Dozmary Pool

Several days later Bedivere walks towards Dozmary Pool bloodied and ragged
from days of battle Excalibur in his hand wrapped in cloth, He kneels at the
edge of the pool Nimue the lady of the lake’s hand rising from it’s waters.

BEDIVERE
(In awe of the lady in the water)
Great lady of the lake I bring you the sword of myth Excalibur, to
honour the hero king Arthur’s oath to you so long ago.

NIMUE
Good knight Bedivere you honour me and your lord with the return
of my sword, for this noble act I grant you a boon wisdom of the
future.

Nimue’s hand vanishes into the water bringing the sword to the depths with her
before returning to Bedivere in full form walking out of the pool.

BEDIVERE

My lady you honour and grace me no reward is necessary for

fulfilling my lord’s final command.

NIMUE

Arthur will stay in Avalon his wounds will not take him this day,
but he has earnt rest in the vale, he tasks you knights to protect the
realm of Camelot in his stead.
One day he may return in the far future when another hero king or
queen takes ownership of the sword Excalibur, to train them in the
ways of duty and honour that of a knight young Bedivere fear not
Camelot will end but albion will persevere.

With Nimue’s final words she transforms into a puddle returning to the lake
from whence she resided. Bedivere shocked from the lady’s words collapses to
his knees hope in his heart for his lord and the kingdom he serves.

FADE IN
Int. Family car

A young man called Paul is driving his two daughters to Dozmary Pool for a
family day out to enjoy his favourite historical site. Paul finishes reciting the
Arthurian legend to his two daughters of Excalibur how it was gifted to King
Arthur by the lady of the lake in Dozmary Pool and how it was returned to her
by Sir Bedivere.

PAUL
(In a cheery tone)
So, girls what did you think of the story girls exciting? Nothing
beats a good heroic legend about kings and knights.

Matilda giggles softly and looks out the window at the pool as Paul parks the
car up nearby. The blistering heat bearing down at them as they got out of the
car.

MATILDA
(Teasing her father)
Dad everybody knows legends aren’t real all made up by old
people like you. It would be too dangerous to leave sharp swords in
lakes that lady was very silly.

Matilda pokes her tongue out at her dad before running towards the Pool with
her sister looking back at Paul waiting for him to catch up to them.

LOIS
(Smiling widely)
Come on dad hurry up, if you take too long you got to get us ice
cream on the way home and lots of it.

MATILDA
(Looking out at the pool)
That’s later it’s too hot now dad, can we go for a paddle for a while
in the lake to cool off.

PAUL
(Laughing with a hint of worry)
Of course, you can Tilly just be careful and don’t go off too far,
stay where I can see you and get to you quickly.
Matilda and Lois stripped down to their swimsuits and jumped into the pool
swimming inside a wide radius close to the shore by their bags. While
swimming Matilda looks down into the water seeing something glittering at the
lakebed.

MATILDA
(Curious and surprised)

Dad, I think I can see a sword in the water like that legend you told
us about it’s at the bottom come see.

PAUL
(Sceptical and uneasy)

Very funny Matilda sweetheart I’m sure it’s probably just some
fencing somebody from the village dumped into the lake.

Paul strips down to some black swim shorts and walks into the pool towards his
daughter, as she continues to point towards the shining glimpse of steel at the
bottom of the lake.

PAUL
(Shocked and surprised)
Well bugger me it is a sword down there it can’t be, could it?

Paul dives down into the lake and picks up the sword from the floor swimming
with Matilda and Lois back to shore. Once on shore Paul carefully lets Matilda
hold the 4ft sword towering next to her.

LOIS
Does that mean Matilda is queen now like king Arthur dad?

PAUL
(Laughing softly)
Probably not Lois I can’t tell if this is the right sword looks
modern. Maybe 30 years old at least so it must be an old film prop
someone threw away sweetheart.
Paul takes pictures of Matilda with the sword, and they get the attention of a
local newspaper. Meanwhile a few days later at the home of a local Celtic
traditionist in the nearby village discovers the news article of the schoolgirl that
discovered Excalibur in Dozmary Pool.

INT. MARKS HOUSE

MARK
(Shocked to himself while thinking back)
That’s my old sword I threw away a long time ago!

1980s
INT. MARK’S HOUSE, BODMIN

Mark waits patiently for the ‘flambard fantasy’ to arrive from ‘battle orders
UK’. After half an hour there’s a knock at the door and finally his sword
arrives.

MARK
(Excited)

Now I can finally do the battle re-enactments at this year’s

Heritage Day celebrations.

On Heritage Day Mark gets into his re-enactment attire and grabs the ‘flambard
fantasy’ heading out into the village festivities. Mark and a group of his friends
around the village re-enact battles of legend celebrating their Celtic heritage.
Later that evening Mark is knighting some friends at a local Cornish pub.

MARK
(Laughing and cheering)
I knight thee Sir Richard of the ale table.
That weekend Mark heads to Dozmary Pool to honour the Celtic gods and
legends, walking up to the edge of the lake like Sir Bedivere had done before
him in the legends of old. Picking up his great sword he returns it to the lady of
the lake by throwing the blade into the cold waters honouring the Arthurian
legends.

FADE IN

EXT. BODMIN VILLAGE SQUARE

Mark holding his sword once more as he did back in his youth places the blade
gently and carefully above Matilda’s shoulder.

MARK
(Speaking loudly for the village to hear him clearly)

I knight thee Sir Matilda of Bodwin and crown you queen of

Dozmary Pool, lady of the lake.

Lois puts a flower chain crown on her sister’s head giggling happily alongside
Matilda enjoying the re-enactment of a knighting ceremony.

MATILDA
(Giggling and smiling happily)

Thank you, Sir Mark of Bodwin.

Mark holds out the sword and Matilda takes it as her own a souvenir for her
little adventure in the lands of legend, fulfilling the lady of the lake’s prophecy
someone was worthy and took the sword from the bottom of the lake, becoming
queen even just for a day and the lands of albion existed long after the knights
of the round their duties successful joining their king in the Vale of Avalon.
